New thiller/horror starring Christian Bale, they advertise the hell out of it on the radio, so I was wondering if anyone has seen it yet. It has a 7.6 on imdb, and apparently I can't access anything with the word "rotten" from work. Here is a tidbit I saw on Imdb: The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 190 pounds in weight down to about 130 pounds in weight to make this film. They also claim that Bale actually wanted to drop down to 110 pounds, but that they would not let him go below 130 out of fear that his health could be in too much danger if he did. His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. His 63 pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role Oh and as for plot, it's apparently about a machinist who can't sleep or something.

Do you ever wonder if the actors who do these things will have horrible health later in life? I guess De Niro is ok, but still, I'd think these weight gains and losses would have a bad longterm affect on your health.

His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. That was about my formula for losing 100. Combined with working out.

I read a bit of an interview about this one. He apparently did all the weight loss stuff. It's about a Machinist who starts to lose his mind because he can't sleep or something. Pics of Bale look horrible. He said it definitely took a toll on him, and that in social situations, where he couldn't eat, it just made him cranky because it's like he's waiting on everyone else.

The best movie reviewer is The Filthy Critic. (link to a review of Princess Diaries 2) But the review above was pretty good. Being contrary is fun, don't mind me.

I guess De Niro is ok, but still, I'd think these weight gains and losses would have a bad longterm affect on your health. It can't be good for your heart to gain or lose weight so quickly. I know De Niro said he even suffered a minor heart attack filming Raging Bull. Del Toro was hospitalized. Those two guys tried doing it by themselves, without any real plan or assistance, so maybe that's the problem. I know I'm not as healthy as I should be. I gained 50 pounds once, pretty quickly, like 2 or 3 months. I then lost it in the same amount of time. This was about 5 years ago, but I energy level isn't nearly as good as it used to be.

Wow. If so, being in labor 2 to 3 months must have really sucked.

People knock it, but nothing has ever worked for me as well as the beer and coffee diet. You can only do it for a week before exhaustion becomes your constant companion, but you will see results.

I gained 50 pounds once, pretty quickly, like 2 or 3 months. I then lost it in the same amount of time. Were you pregnant? I'm male, but yeah, pretty much. I wouldn't be surprised if I was experiencing some of the same changes. It had something to do with the medication I was put on -- Xanax and Zoloft. Couple that with quiting smoking and quiting other shit as well (cocaine and speed, among other things, etc..), and it isn't hard to imagine. My appetite and metabolism changed dramatically, and I didn't have the energy or motivation to do much else except sit around and eat. The only thing that did motivate me to get off my ass was a drive to McDonald's, and even then, I was gorging down 4 or 5 hamburgers just on the way back home. When I lost weight, it was only a matter of tapering off the meds. I didn't know at the time how all this was effecting my body though. I just started eating less, while withdrawals from Xanax caused me to pick up smoking again (didn't relapse into the other drugs though). I wasn't trying to lose weight or anything. I just didn't want to be on the meds any longer. After that, everything went back to normal.

If you haven't noticed from my obsessive ranting, I'm trying to stop smoking, too. It's bloody hard. I'm a mess. I tried to sate my oral fixation with those Quest ciggies, but they don't taste like anything and I can't feel any smoke going in... so I might as well suck my finger. :( Usually I mix my reefer with tobacco and I'm hoping that these Quest thingies will at least act as filler. I hate any sort of pipe. Luckily, I gave up all other sorts of drugs a gazillion years ago, although I'd consider them if they help the smoking problem. I heard anti-depressants help... anyone know if that's true? I'll work off the poundage, but please, god, please make this fucking nicotine misery end! Ok, I'll stop now.
Wish me luck... I need it!

Wish me luck... I need it! I'm not the right person to ask, since I started smoking again (I love to smoke. What can I say?). I don't think there are any drugs (street drugs, I mean) that'll help you quit smoking. All of them probably make you smoke more. As for anti-depressants, there's Wellbutrin..Otherwise know as Zyban...Which is used to aid people in getting off cigarettes. I don't know anyone who's tried it though. Supposedly it doesn't have the side effects of weight gain like other anti-depressants do either (like Zoloft did with me). It's prescription, and probably expensive, but if you can, you should ask a doctor about it. That might be what you need. Here's the site: http://www.zyban.com/
