Too soon. Damn it.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I wonder if he was clean in the present. I know he had the balls to check in and get off some addictions not too long ago. Hope he didn't fall off the wagon and die because of it.

ANYWAYS... He's probably the closest thing to Socrates that we'll get. RIP, even if I disagreed with his cynicism, oh, about 90% of the time.  wink

[edit] Actually, I take that back. I will not say RIP. Carlin would probably have my ass for it.

Instead, I'll just say: Fuck that asshole. I'm glad he's dead!

Happy Dirtnap, you irascible old fucker.

You will be missed.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits.

I am so glad I finally got to see him this year. Three months ago, and he was still fucking awesome. One of my role models, Georgy, Willie Nelson and Norm Abrams. That's my Holy Trinity. I got class clown waaay too young, stole it from my step-father's collection. In a confusing, conformist world, George gave me the avenue that helped me be me, showed me that there was a different way to look at things.

Sucks he is gone, but as shitty as that makes me feel, I'm so glad he was here. It is a better world because of that prick.

Well, he died like he wanted to die. According to an NPC sound clip, he wanted folks to say "Hey, he was here a minute ago", and voila, poof, gone like a puff of smoke. Somehow makes it easier to know the dude didn't suffer too much or too long.

I'm glad he got the Mark Twain award, and few people rightly deserve that one.

Yeah, this ranks up there with the loss of Richard Pryor in my book.

"We live in a country, where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest, Yoko Ono was standing right next to him and not one fucking bullet! Explain that to me! Explain that to me, God! Explain it to me, God!" - Denis Leary summing up my feelings about the nature of the universe.

Richard Pryor and George Carlin are gone, while Dane Cook and Carrot Top still draw breath. This has to test the faith of those of you who believe.

Yeah, heard about this first thing this morning.  All I could think was "wel that sucks... but he /was/ 71."  Better to go quick than to get cancer, parkinsons, anything else.

He'll be missed, but all I can expect anymore is to see more and more familiar, highly-remembered folks dying off at an accelerating rate.  Such is man's fate.  Damn that man for making me care.

This is the part that made me sad:

News of his death was first reported by the television show "Entertainment Tonight."

That would have really pissed him off.

Yep, and the demons are asking him what he thinks about the word "cornhole" now.

The man worked shows right up until he pulled a Fred Sanford.  I never got to see him live but I collected his albums.  I knew he was a kindred soul when he said he had a troubled childhood in which he had not only shit his pants but shit in other people's pants as well.  He was a true master of weaving vulgarity and absurdity through a command of the English language rarely rivalled.   If I were a religious man, I'd like to think Carlin is now hitchhiking along the Eternal Road, waiting for the Great Red Shark to pick him up for one hell of a trip.
