Turns out Woods has had a torn ACL for a year AND two stress fractures in his tibia for a month. He's now going to be out until next year including missing the Ryder Cup.

I saw it and thought, well at least he's come to his senses. There's no reason to shoot your career in the head for one year of play. Tiger Woods still has 15 solid years left in the PGA.

Yeah but when you're that dialed in I can understand him wanting to play till his leg fell off. When you get on that hot streak you have to ride it for all its worth because once its gone there's no guarantee you'll return to form. Golf history is full of guys who were never the same after a serious injury. |

the USOpen.com's live feed sucked ass most of the time. Video was way behind the audio which sucked for those tense moments.
The Tiger EffectStarting around 9 am Pacific and peaking at 1:30 pm yesterday, many ISPs noticed an unusual increase in traffic. At first, a few security engineers worried they were under some type of new DDoS attack. But the flood of traffic did not appear directed at any individual customer — the gigabits of anomaly traffic surged to almost all customers from multi-national banks to the bakery down the street and home DSL / Cable users. For several ISPs, traffic into their network grew by 15-25%. In one provider, inbound traffic nearly doubled.
It turns out that the U.S. Open played at Torrey Pines yesterday generated one of the larger Internet-wide flash crowds this
year. Traffic dipped and peaked corresponding to Tiger’s initial misses and subsequent spectacular comeback as millions of office bound fans tuned in to the live NBC and ESPN coverage. |
