They're still overly "cute", but what the hell. I can live with that.

If this game sucks, I will have to kill. I'm just pointing that out.

The demo has been leaked already. It's all over the internets.

There's a couple leaks, most of them are totally gimped compared to the final version. I mean, oh, demos, really?

And by gimped I mean they released a version of the creature creator on a demodisk in the UK attached to some magazine. No one noticed because print is fucking dead.

You figure a forum of people this jaded about everything would be able to have some reservations about Spore. Maybe it's because I don't have any interest in it in general that I can be confident that it will suck, given the signs.

Being excited isn't the same as having no reservations.

Hell, half of why I'm excited is because if the creature creator sucks, I'll be able to find out NOW instead of after paying $50 for the full game.

Fuck, I admit I'm more impressed than I thought I'd be.

Wil better hope his rating and social networking shit is capable of keeping the dicks and asses out of everyone else's pools. :) I suspect some of them would be at an evolutionary disadvantage (the Fuck-worm there, for instance), but it's pretty damn impressive they can make it in the editor.

I'm getting it like I got Sims 2. But I expect so little. Oh, so little.

Yup, that was pretty clear from the first public demo with Robin Williams at the controls.

I don't care about the world-at-large's penis people.  My arachnotaurs will slaughter them all.

For the Queen!

(And somehow, hideous bug people are still really cute.)

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I'd like to be excited by this, but that DRM has gotten right up my arse. This seems to be exactly the kind of game that needs unlimited installs over the years.

I like this one a lot, for it's extremely creative perversion.

OMG.

On the positive side, if you can create that you should also be able to create an unstopable killing machine.  I hope they have an arena were our creature can clash.

$10 for a demo of a piece of a game?  Umm...no.  And yes, I know it has an even more limited "demo" version, but charging for a downloadable widget with zero gameplay that is just a teaser for the real game?  No thanks.  Although those videos just became Exhibit A in the case against User Generated Content.

Its a demo?  But it lets you create things.

$10 and I can make giant throbbing cocks with teeth?

C'mon.

That's a steal.  Cheaper than a movie.

Mahrin, I advise you never to look at prices for 3D modelling software.

Kinda like if CoH sold its costume creator as stand-alone program.

I've got a press copy and this is vastly, VASTLY more impressive than that. And not just because Technology has advanced.

I don't mean to be a dick, but see Blender for free 3D modeling software. And it is quite capable having produced items such as Big Buck Bunny (Peach, the open movie project) and Apricot (the open game project). I didn't find the work flow and the interface to be terribly intuitive as I am used to other applications (Cinema4D, XSI), but it works quite well nonetheless.

Still, I prefer Modo for modeling.

In any case, while I do not like the idea of charging $10 USD for a demo, no matter how full-featured, they mitigate the issue of ripping off consumers by deducting that $10 from the price of the final game release if you purchase it. Also, it looks like the Creature Creator is a neat little application that will let people make a model of anything they can imagine. It's a great marketing hook for the game, and the developers were smart to leverage it.

ORLY?

Fuck, it might as well be free then.  Just think of it as a preorder perk.

Or if paying MONEY for SOFTWARE offends you so much, just get the free demo and pretend the $10 version doesn't exist.  I don't understand the wadded panties over this.

There's a trial of the creature creator itself available tomorrow.

Nevermind, Samwise knew that.

Also, the integrated movie stuff is neat. And the Sporepedia stuff is neat and this bit will let them test some things out before release. Maybe add more stuff.
