I was in best buy today picking up AoC and saw they had WAR preorder boxes up. The BestBuy items are some sort of portable camp to heal and rest at and a magic ring that has a chance of adding frost damage when you hit. Does anyone know what the other chains get, or are they all the same?

Also, what's the word on the F13 beta entrance?

Three different rings, all PvE damage only.

All preorders get:

Do we have a WAR forum for testers here? Or did all the mods not get in? It's definitely a tough beta to join.

I'm in this beta and Righ has been in for ages.  He's not playing games much right now though.  He's been doing other stuff.  Stuff I don't understand.

I can see that I'm in from my beta account, but I can't actually get in because of a defunct e-mail address.

Why don't you ask them for help? I would guess James Nichols would probably be the right guy to contact, or at least he can point you to the right guy.

I've been in the beta for a long time and play very occasionally. I have no idea if I got in as a result of being here or not, but I think it was my individual app. I should probably log in and do my duty, but I burned out on LOTRO and ATITD3 before they even released by playing the beta and I really don't want to do that with War.

I wish there was a place I could disucss  NDA topics with sane people rather than rabid fan boys on the official beta forums.

A forum ouside of the Beta forums would kind of break the NDA in the first place, yes?  And discussions on that forum wouldn't be seen by anyone official, and would be even more useless than you think the official ones are.  It'd just be pointless whining and questions on how to do things.

Not that I'm sure other groups don't have them.  (There was an open one I googled up about 2 months ago, no less. Idiots) but if they do they're likely to keep it quiet for fear of being booted if they were found out.

I'm on same terms here. Been in beta for a year now, but try to not log on too often. Cause I'm dragging my entire guild in at release and the newbie feeling is what really keeps bringing me back. Knowing every path, road and shortcut demotivates me every time.

I honestly don't know why they bother with the  NDA.  There are several betaleaks sites that are easily accessible that have almost all of the information you could want (skill treees, videos, SS, etc...).  They should just lift the NDA and be done with it.

With some betas the admins at F13 get permission to create a private forum for testers only. We had one for LOTRO awhile back. But they need permission and every admin and mod on the forums needs to be in the beta so NDA isn't broken. I'm kinda surprised that we don't have it for WAR since (Eldin aside) the diaspora has such a long friendly relationship with the guys at mythic, but like I said-- WAR is one tight-ass beta to get into. No joke.

Those beta leak sites are scummy and reputable sites won't break NDA. If they were in open beta, you'd have streaming live beta video right on IGN's homepage. I would assume they don't feel the game is ready for that kind of exposure.

They made it perfectly clear that we are not allowed to discuss the game outside the official places, even with just other beta players. Unfortunately.

Well, except for the closed beta keys Mythic gave to apparently anyone who walked up to the booth at Games Day this weekend. Along with a code to redeem for some sort of special skaven cloak when it's live. So my question is, if they're handing out closed beta codes to literally thousands of mouth breathing, NDA breaking 14 year olds, how the fuck is the F13 guild not in, or if it is in, how the fuck am I not in with it as I've been talking about the damn thing since they announced it and was like the third one to post in that thread to sign up for it.

No.  The keys from Games Day simply give you 'better' odds of getting into beta at some point.   Preferred seating or some such concept.      I've been registered on that stupid beta forum for close to forever, threw in the Games Day key, and I'm still not in it yet.

Just play WoW instead - it's pretty much the same game except WoW's PvE is better done and you don't have server wipes every few weeks.  awesome, for real

According to the people who got them and posted about it, they were. Do I know them IRL? No. Since the sampling of people who say that's the case is much larger than the one guy here who says otherwise, I don't have much reason to doubt them. Besides, mythic making a skaven cloak that I can't get makes them cocksuckers on principle.

I talked to the staff in line and repeated what they told me on here.  So hey, I guess you're seeing the lucky ones. or maybe they've got a pre-order code along with the rest of the bennies and that was enough to cross some sekrit threshold.  Either way, I've no reason to lie about the fact that a Games Day 2008 code is not immediate access.

I'm in the NDA but didn't get in via f13.

I have an idea of why the f13 thing didn't pan out, but I'm not sure how accurate it is or if I can talk about it here, beyond saying something looked really fucked up on the part of  NDA, and it's not schild's fault.

Eh, from what I have been reading they are doing the Beta in stages anyway, so getting in to the Beta will not necessarily ruin the game experience for you as they are very specific in what they are testing during each phase  (I think they are redoing the goblin/dwarf testing in the current phase).

AS for the leaks sites being "shady," I really can't speak to that.  Most of the information seems accurate (including vids and screenshots) and the general impression is overall very positive toward the game...  The debate seems thoughtful, although there are similar complaints that it is difficult to discuss real issues on the official Mythic boards because of the fanboism.  But, even folks who used to bash it are starting to come around.  Which is why I can't figure out why the NDA is still up.  Unless they want to polish the game to a mirrored sheen before they release.

In any event I'm impressed with some of the innovations they are pushing forward, especially with tanks (making taunt mechanisms effective in PvP) and healers (damage dealing increases healing).  Although the waiting is killing me.

There are a few things with this game that make me want to think that it's not going to be "great", but what the hell do I know.
