I did it today. With a little help from my foot accident I did it faster than anyone else in my guild of 40, but way less faster than a hundred of other guys and girls on my server.

I wanted to share with you some data about the time needed to hit the cap in two of the most recent MMORPGs. LotRO and Conan.

Age of Conan

Number of Levels: 80
Played time: 9 days and 9 hours (225 hours).
Time between launch and level 80 (cap): 24 days (576 hours)
Average daily playtime: 9 hours and 18 minutes/day
Average time per level: 2 hours and 48 minutes

Lord of the Rings Online

Number of Levels: 50
Played time: 17 days and 2 hours (410 hours).
Time between launch and level 50 (cap): 84 days (2016 hours)
Average daily playtime: 4 hours and 54 minutes
Average time per level: 8 hours and 12 minutes

These numbers say that:

1) My catassery level doubled. In May 2007 I used to spend less than 5 hours daily to play Lotro, while in 2008 my daily time on Conan is almost double. Ouch. Is this because Conan is MUCH more fun than LotRO, or because I was forced home by a fractured foot? Hrm..

2) It's way way way easier to level up in Conan. Despite AoC having 30 levels more than LotRO, the total time needed to hit the cap is roughly half than what it took in Middle Earth, and the average time needed to hear the magic Ding! is less than 3 hours in Conan while more than 8 hours in LotRO.

Who cares about this shit? No one, but if you don't mind I'd love to know your /played as you hit 80.

Jeezus dude. You played more per day than most people work, with commute time.

Can I get someone to do a Misery on my foot? Oh, and babysit the kids. Oh, yea, and get a three day spa treatment for the wife.

Oh, and cook?  Ohhhhh, I see.

Honestly, that 9 hours/day thing doesn't make ANY sense. I work, and I cook, and have a kid which is fine and still alive and well fed and all.
But I don't want to refute it. Maybe it's just that I left my char logged a few times while doing other things, or maybe I had a few ugly weekends too much.
Not really sure. What I know is that it never happened before and it won't happen again. I did it, now I can rest and amend.

Well, if I just had my youngest for a day, I could swing 9 hours, an hour before she's up, two while she naps and five after she goes to bed.

But I'd be dead if I tried that three days in a row  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I think you've already played more AOC than I've played FFXI, and I've been playing for 5 years.

Interesting results.  So, since people talked me into trying (read: peer pressure from reading) AoC I have not logged into LoTRO at all.  A large part was limited play time; well tonight I got tired of the graphic problems I have been experiencing and decided to get my RING on!

Ouch, it hurt.

My current main in LoTRO is a Champion; heavy armor, lots of damage, large groups.  The game.  Felt.  Slow.  When I left off I was working on a trait killing stuff way below me; I actually yawned as I unleashed KILLER FURY.  Killer fury.  After messing around in AOC it LoTRO felt like slow ass molasses rolling down your mothers varicose veined thighs.

AoC made a large gamble to be different, and if they fix some of the main bugs (hell, even if they don't) they should easily carve a large niche out of the market.  Unfortunetely the poor launch will mean they cannot take on WoW, but after just a few days of it I am having major problems adjusting to a more traditional Diku

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

Given the difference in the XP curve, unless your FFXI main character is level 8 or below, Sir, that can't be true.

So is there anything useful or fun for you to actually do now at level 80?

I'll tell you in a couple of days.

Right now I have two or three dungeons targeted, both group and raid oriented. I'll let you know if they are working or worth it.

The point everyone is failing to see is: the game is missing PVP content, not PVE. There's NONE of the former and plenty of the latter.

9 hours aday is alot, but I averaged 7 hours/day over a period of two years when I played WoW. That was with a demanding job (senior programmer) but not much social life. I'm not letting that happen again. ACK! Granted, that was with whole weekends dedicated to nothing but playing and sucking nutrition solutions with a straw. It's really about doing nothing else but what you have to. Took me ~40 days played just to reach level 60. I am an obnoxiously dirty RPer. this guy looks legit

I'm not 80 in Conan, but 50 in LotRO took me about 12 days played... with having roughly 70 days played total now, across all characters.

Interesting to see, none the less.  smiley
