There's already 2000 points worth of DLC planned and/or available already.  Including dungeons and new buildings to unlock.

How long is it?

From the looks of things, initial release, 20-30 hours.

The 20-30 hours is with the dungeon packs downloaded, right? I've heard 11 hours for the vanilla game.

Perhaps there's less dungeons than I originally thought. But even 10-11 is reasonable. The map is big. I haven't even looked at the DLC yet.

Any wagers on when we'll get a storage solution for the Wii?

At the rate Wii hacking is going, I give it one week til we see Mass Media on the Wii through no action from Nintendo.

Ahem, I meant to say, Soon.

You played it and liked it?

That's good to hear. One of my best friends was in charge of it and I almost ended up working on it.

What? It's American made?

Edit: And yes, it's the only game on the Wii worth playing. Lost Wind is a gimmicky silly piece of bullshit that happens to have stellar presentation. And yes, I'm including Wii disc titles when I say it's the only game worth playing.

It was made in Japan. My friend is bilingual and works for S-E.

Holy hell does this game get some slowdown once you start building a huge fucking city.

No. It quite literally pushes the Wii to it's upper limit. It's one of the best looking games I've seen on a Nintendo system since FFVI for the SNES. Square doesn't do "pooly optimized," particularly not on 8 year old technology.

I'm pretty sure i'm going to BiiF this even though I've played it for 30 hours.

Just to give an idea on length:

5/13: 2.47
5/14: 11.23 Hours
5/15: 2.17 Hours

I've only cleared 4 of the 8 or whatever howmany DLC dungeons there are.

The added races make the game a lot easier. I'd say I have 5-10 hours left before I hit new game+.

Truly a fantastic title. It also shows - completely - the upper limits of the Wii when you get a city completely outfitted with shit. We're talking slowdown on speech bubbles popping up.

Despite being nearly done, I think I'm gonna BiiF it. I know the ins and outs enough to give a full review, but I don't think there's enough meat in it for one.

Actually I think it is poorly optimized. It slows down even when there isn't much happening on the actual screen. Once you have a big city going and summon Chime it gets really slow, even if your screen only has one house on it. I suspect they aren't doing a very good job of culling out the stuff not in the viewing frustrum, which should be pretty easy given everything fits nicely into boxes.

I'll ask my friend next time I talk to him. He was the lead programmer after all.

Mine had little to no slowdown unless I was standing in the center of all my buildings at the beginning (placed most as close to eachother as possible because adventurers stop EVERYWHERE).

But when I filled up that city, man all I can do is go to a plot and face a wall if I don't want a 2 second delay in animations.

Hopefully this will be the next best reason to own a Wii.  It's one of three projects just revealed by Platinum Games (formerly Seed and Clover before that).

Platinum is awesome. But man, I hate that fucking name. And Seeds had a kickass logo.

Speak to me of this "DLC."

Specifically, does the game have sufficient content out of the box, without getting any downloads? Hypothetically speaking, there may be people here without intertube outlets for their consoles.

Hypothetically.

It's WiiWare.  You need the internets to get it in the first place.

Just finished it:

"Archlord" (not sure if this changes, but it was in Orange, so whatever)

Game Clear: B
Difficulty: Normal
Days Used: 204
Dungeons Cleared: 44

Citizens: S
Tithes: 480
Morale Bonuses 127

Adventurers: S
Number: 13
Average Level: 28
Research Levels: 970

Total: A

Gametimes:
5/13: 2:47
5/14: 11:23
5/15: 4:23

Total: 18:33

Truly a superbly crafted experience from beginning to end. Easily the best game (or non-game, hur hur hur) on the Wii. Period.

I knew I should have gotten this one instead of Pop. Pop's fine, but not the level of which you speak.

Is there ANY way to add points without using the craptastic onscreen ecomm checkout system? I mean, that's fine once a month or so which I suppose is way more even than their average user will use it. But between that and the really low-end 1995 kiddy-hour UI in general for the Wii Store, I'm about all set to go out and get an X360 for the house. Least with that I can manage my account under Windows.

Get a PS3.

Also, no, you even have to use that craptastic GUI to redeem a points card. I hate the Wii store so fucking much.

Lost Winds is not worth it. I haven't even booted up Pop yet.

Nothing I want to play enough on a PS3 that I can't get on the X360. Maybe next year. Though I'll hafta pickup LBP for the office PS3. That's almost worth a PS3 unto itself, but really depends on what other people do with it and how that stuff gets past around.

Otherwise, yes on the total Wii Store. I really don't know what they're thinking there. That thing looks more dated than my crappy Charter DVR box settings menu.

One of the reasons I said get a 360 is that I don't see a great future for them, particularly in the area of games you seem to like - also - in 4-6 months they have a completely revised edition coming out. As in, MIGHT NOT BREAK? MIGHT?

Main reason I'm holding back. Sony's promised a lot of stuff I'd like to see. X360 has a lot of stuff I like already. Wii made the most sense for the house because while it's light on the games I usually like, it turned out to have a bunch of stuff I didn't think I'd like. And it's perfect for my oldest kid.

But to points you've made all along, Sony is not giving up this generation. And they've got lots of cash, can talk to my PSP, and will have MMOs eventually. Agency on a PS3 would be all sorts of awesome, but even then I couldn't really justify it since I've got a damned good computer with much planned upgradability.

Ultimately, I love that this generation hasn't yet been decided. Keeps everyone on their toes.

Goddamnit, that art style looks fantastic, like No More Heroes, except it looks good. What kind of game is that?

Looks like a more violent version of God Hand.  Those guys crack me up.

As far as FF:CC:MLK is concerned, it reminds me a lot of Dark Cloud for obvious reasons (I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the dungeon crawling partthough).  Just taking a second to look around what you've built is very rewarding, it's just too bad you don't get a whole lot of time to just run around and check things out.  I was a little surprised at the fast pace, I can't imaging having time to deal with everyone's shit once the citizenry gets too far into double digits.  There's a mechanic where you can stay up later as the citizens feel safer, right?

Don't get too hung up on staying up later. At least 100 of my 200 days were sending my people on behests and calling Chime to put my ass to sleep. You get like 30 seconds to a minute more later on once people leave their lights on longer.
