So I may finnaly break down and get a second account running. My main purpose at first will be to get the second account into a covert-ops/probing of some sort for scouting and hopefully eventually creating warp to points on ops using a neutral alt. Then later probably also using it as a salvager to trail behind me when I'm ratting but thats not the main focus.
What race should I jump into to get into the best ship for scouting as quickly as possible?

Caldari Achura, PvE version. As always, gimping your charisma gets you where you want to be, faster.
Train up learning skills, adv learning to 3, Minmitar frigate V, and get in a cheetah. You're still looking at a month of training, any way you slice it.

It can still scout for me just fine in a newbie ship until I get it properly skilled up.

Shuttles work well for noob scout alts. We see quite a few of them as it is.

You can't run two copies of eve when one has a trial account logged on to it, can you? I think I read that somewhere yet I keep running into these few days old chars in 0.0. I suppose it wouldn't be very hard to get another copy of eve running in a virtual machine, eve only takes 3-400meg of ram most of the time anyway, so maybe that's how they do it.

They do it by temporary IP ban. You can have 2+ subscribed accounts active at once, but you cannot have 1 subscribed and 1 trial account active per IP. That means if you're NATed behind a router sharing one external IP, it doesn't matter which computer you use. If, however, you've got multiple IPs per house, then you're good to go.

This can't be true, unless it has changed in the last couple of months: I just run them on two different PCs, behind a router. You can also run them on virtual machines on the same box.

You can activate trial accounts with ISK though, and IIRC, you get the full time of the GTC, so you don't even have to pay that "activation" fee.

I have two separate computers, a laptop and a desktop and am unable to log a trial in when one of my subscribed characters is in the game, as of last week.

If you don't have some strange setup going on, then this would be madness. Picture the scene, if you will, gentle read: two "bros" in their flat: "Dude, what's that?" "Eve, bro" [sips Mojito] "Looks pretty sweet. Gimme a shot." "Pshyearite*. There's a trial, here's the link. Try it out, just remember to use your Ibis and civilian mining laser to get the minerals for your first battleship." ... "What the fuck? It won't run. Says I already have an account? The fuck?" -------- *If you think I am letting you suicide my Vagabond by attacking a gate in highsec you have another think coming."

I know it doesn't make a lot of sense; Though I did register with the same e-mail address so maybe they tie that in, too.
