So, despite having a couple PS3s and PS2s, I decided to start futzing around with PS2 emulation. Specifically PCSX2 - which is the only emulator that matters. To those wondering, I can run pretty much any RPG (haven't tried FF12 yet) at about 60 FPS with an 8600GTS and the Q9450. I get between 60 and 63FPS with a rare slight few second dip to 58 seconds. If I can get all of this working flawlessly with FRAPS (having issues at the moment), I might make some PS2 videos. Possibly maybe with commentary read by an old man wearing a sunday dress and a really smart hat.

Anyone else futz around with this emulator? Any tips? Their official forums are total shit.

Even with the Q9450, it seems to have issues running some games. It didn't seem to be using all 4 versions either, maybe it's because I'm not in a 64 bit environment, who knows. I really badly want this to start working flawlessly though. :\

I've played around with it like a year ago, it's starting to become awesome. I had some problems with some games, but it was mostly fixable if you got the correct plugins and configured them correctly. I didn't get 60 FPS on a lot of games though, but that was expected, the computer I used back then was a single core P4 with a half decent gfx card. I really like playing a lot of games on emulator, love me some quick save / load abuse and fast forward.

Last time I tried PCSX2 it was really coming along. Some games were playable beginning to end. This was many builds ago too.

Considering the insane architecture of the PS2 it's impressive to have a working emu at all.

I will try a recent build, but I think I need a better video card than this 7900 GS.

So we're going to start an F13 Let's Play?  Watch out for the goons, schild.

Are you v-synced? That will feed you ~60 fps no matter what the actual rendering is giving you, which might account for the tight fps spread across many games.

I don't know if we could match the boringness that is 99.9% of LP. Shit, The Dark Id can't LP a non-Survival Horrorish title worth a shit and he's great.
