Went to see this last night and I have to admit it wasn't horrible. Very suspenseful throughout the entire movie and the one point I actually could relax, moments later I ended up being scared about two feet above my seat. Then again, I'm a puss for horror movies. It was pretty easy to figure out what had happened, but a neat movie nonetheless. I'm actually looking forward to seeing if they bring Spiral to the United States.

Do you mean Spiral as in the movie Rasen the unofficial alternate version of the Ring? Cuz I can tell you. It was terrible when compared to the rest of the Ring Saga. I'd prefer them bring over the tv show.

Great movie, if you have no interest in plot, logic, characters, dialogue, or anything even resembling human behavior.

This is an hour and a half of people walking down dark hallways.

This is a movie where a cat jumps out at you. Wow, that was scary the first 4538 times I saw it, where did they possibly come up with such an original idea.

"Shaun of the Dead" was scarier, and that was a comedy.

"The Grudge" was craptastic, cliched shit. But at least it was an entertaining bad, because you could mock the "belching monster". Yes, if you've seen it, you know what I mean.

Um, never mind.

Ju-On, the movie it was based on is probably far superior. Much like Ringu was to the americanized Ring, but that's neither here nor there. Ardent - we're lucky to even have horror movies. They've all been people walking down long hallways for about 50 years. Hell, that's what the Shining was - as well as Silence of the Lambs. Surely they can't be crap and they didn't do it "first."

Most of the theatre was in hysterics. I don't expect much from horror movies these days, especially not Sam Raimi. But again, I'm a puss when it comes to horror and Halloween and stuff. So dark hallways and faces popping out of the dark tend to frighten me easily. It's a rush though.

Speaking of Shaun of the Dead, it was alright. Not quite as funny as I had expected, but it had its moments.

Damn shame about Spiral sucking. I had high hopes. Ah well...

In an unusual move, Asmik Ace Entertainment hired two separate crews to produce Ring and its sequel Rasen, and then released both films simultaneously. The thinking was that if audiences enjoyed one movie, they would watch the other to see how the stories interconnected. Whereas people flocked to see its predecessor, however, Rasen quickly faded from the limelight to become the black sheep of the Ring series.

I've seen it. It's pretty much crap. The sequel to the Ring was probably the second best film in the series. Ring 0 was just screwed up. Ring Virus - Korea - was uhm....craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap.

The Ring 2 (USA) is not a remake of the sequel. Hollywood bought the original director to make a sequel here trying to remain closer to the written story. It should be an interesting foil to the Japanese version, which was quite good.

People walking down dark hallways for logical reasons can be scary. Like "The Shining".

In "The Grudge", people walk down hallways for no good reason other than the screenplay says they should. Booooring.

And any movie where a cat jumps out at you instantly sucks elephant dick.

The only good American horror film made in the last 15 years was "Requiem For A Dream".

Um, never mind.

That is, in NO WAY AT ALL, a horror film. Thanks for playing.

You need to widen your definition of a horror film. "RFAD" doesn't have vampires or ghosts, but it is most certainly a horror story.

"RFAD" is scarier than any film Sarah Michelle Gellar has ever done or will do.

Um, never mind.

When I first saw the previews for this movie, and heard the title, I groaned.  Thought it was going to be another youth-centric horror movie, like final destination, or I know what  you did last summer.   Went to see it after I kept hearing good reviews.  Gotta say, it was a pretty good movie.   Had alot of The Ring-ish effects, but they set the mood well.

And aside from falling victim to the Pretty People syndrom,  I thought the american adaptation of The Ring was superior to Ringu.  The effects were much better, and the storyline made more sense.

Wake me up when SMG nudes up in one of these crappy horror flicks; I refuse to care until then.

Although I can't really blame her; after being married to Freddie Prince Jr. for this long, getting covered in fake blood and screaming a lot is probably an upgrade.

RFAD is a great film, but horror it isn't.

I have never played WoW.

The movie wasn't horrible but it could definitely have been better.  I thought the belching monster was rather spooky (especially on the bus cause I definitely didn't see that coming).

As far as RFAD being a horror movie, that's like saying "Kids" or "Happiness" was a horror movie.

Just got back from the theater...

A little too "ooga booga" for me.  It did do "ooga booga" very well, though, in every conceivable flavor.  So if you like stuff jumping out at you, this is the movie for you.  Personally, I prefer stuff like The Ring, with more tension but fewer heart attacks.

The scene in the bus stepped over a line.  I'm not sure if I approve or not.  Ibbity-ibbity-ibbity.

So how was the cinematography? That's why the Ring was a great movie, not the groundbreaking plot.

The cinematography was well-done (did a very good job of setting up the ooga boogas and making scary areas scarier) but not groundbreaking.  The Ring was definitely better in that regard.
