Large internet forums largely prove you wrong. The SA crowd is most definitely smarter than most, but it's still a case of huge output guaranteeing a brilliant result like this (and that original poster showing all the bees drawn out) every one in a while. Some of the best shit I've read on the internet was on 4chan. And if that's not a million monkeys at a typewriter, I don't know what is.

The thing is that SA, 4chan etc are actually 999,976 monkeys and 24 intellectuals, enjoying the attention.

4chan is million monkeys flinging poo against the wall, one of them eventually creating Mona Lisa.

mind you, the shit storm has high entertainment value itself so that's by no means a complaint.

I love how the animator has managed to make it funny on a general level and specifically to goons (the fleet chat is hilarious).  It would have been very easy to make it a festival of in-jokes, but he's avoided that neatly.

Mazzillu does think I am a spy :(

Did he animate it via a program, or was it actually little paper cut outs?

Little felt cut-outs, with eyes and other small bits touched up via software.

Any insiders care to crack the inside jokes that there were?

And I agree it's not the 10,000 monkeys, it's the 9,999 monkeys and the one really talented dude who for some reason enjoys the company of monkeys.

It's not as funny when you explain it, but OK.

The main part is in gang chat:
Quote
"Halp! where r u guys
pubbie
Spy
In QY6, wwwwww me.
Fuck you, don't help spies
mazzilliu thinks i'm a spy :(
z
o
r
z
Where's the op?
o
fuck!
My zor chain backbone
Shut in fleet chat
X up if you're in a BS
I'm in a Drake...
The pubbie / spy / clueless stuff you get already.

QY6, one of the major systems in delve where ops form up (now it's 319.. we lost QY6). www = warp to me.

mazzilliu on the GF forums has an avatar comment that's scripted to say &PLAYERNAME& is a spy. (so whoever sees it sees their login name there)

the z o r thing is a retarded eurosquad thing, you say zor over and over with one person per character until it's broken. I'm not sure why it's funny but everyone seems to do it.

"My XXXXX Backbone!" an ironic comment lamenting something supposedly critically important that is lost (generally not that important). It's become a catchphrase - "My Capital backbone! My ECM backbone! My moon mining backbone!" etc.

The "I'm in a drake..." shows the goon / human nature to respond to queries that are not targeted to them, or to not follow simple fucking orders.

There's a hatred for drakes in particular at the higher levels of fleet commanding and a love for them at the lower levels of newbiedom. This is becuase newbies think they are awesome because thy never die, but FCs know that they do shit dps and are pretty much useless in fleet combat unless specifically fleet fitted (as a tackler, for example) - which newbies who love their drakes never do.

Suas (shortened from "shut up and shave",) the one singing the song, is the current leader of specops is also well known for being perpetually drunk, podding idiots in fleet and people who piss him off or fuck up, and also screaming at you a lot in teamspeak. On long ops or during boring parts (PoS shooting, for example), he often breaks out a guitar and sings on teamspeak.

"Riding bikes" and the bee riding a bike graphic is the term goons use for activities that are not directly related to the war - making money (jewing), or whatever. "Where's little Timmy? He's not in Delve with the rest of us.... Oh, he's off riding bikes in Paragon Soul."

Lady Scarlet is fat. Quoeth from the wiki:
Quote
Lady Scarlet is a Band of Brothers fleet commander. She is famous for her size. She currently has a pos anchored around her.

Much to the horror and flaccidity of every phallus on the planet, she has apparently made herself e-famous by appearing naked on Youtube

Recently CCP has decided to show BOB further preferential treatment by making it a ban-able offense simply to allude to Lady Scarlet on any game medium. If you don't want a three day vacation, don't mention her in game, on EVE-O, or anywhere that CCP has attached their name.

Also, if you've never been in a laggy fleet combat, that is *exactly* what it's like. 100% shield -> dead with only one update per 30 seconds or so.

I don't know, it's infinitely more funny to me now.

Thanks for unpacking it for the newbs!

I'll take a shot at Calantus' question - it means "x up" (ask for fleet invite) to go destroy a pos.  I don't really know why/if it's funny/inside though.

What does "x for POS destruction" mean?

You "x up" for operations by typing x in whatever chat channel your corp or alliance uses.  I was sure you'd been on ops I've run where I say to people on vent "x up in the F13 channel for tonight's op"?

POS destruction ops are ones aimed at taking down enemy player owned structures.

Any goonfleet types know if the posters the little bee rides his bike past are available in larger artwork somewhere?  (Like the "Orbit at 10km" one, etc).
