I'm looking to buy either of the following:

A 3/4 length oxblood leather jacket
A black leather jacket with some sort of crazy design on the back (like a giant skull etc)

The first one I can probably find on my own, but I'm having trouble finding leather jackets in anything other than plain black.

For the second, do you want to to be a decent jacket, decent design? Or is it for some kind of dress up/costume thing?

Best way of going about getting a black leather jacket with a graphic on it is to do it yourself. Find a design you want, and make a stencil. Use an acrylic and a matte finish sealer afterwards.

If you need help finding a black one, just google "motorcycle jacket" or something (besides, a skull would look funny on anything else).

[edit] Also, if you really want to a cool one, go for this horsehide. It's pricey and you absolutely do not need it (to tie in with another thread), but it looks great.

Also, don't paint on this one.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I just want to know why he's being specific to leather jackets.

No one makes leather jackets in the spring. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't want some shitass ugly biker jacket with bad art.

That leather jacket is cool, except the elbow patches are on the side instead of the back. The web art also might get you a beat-down from ex-cons. And the giant brand name/logo ad on the back. They should pay you to wear that mobile billboard.

Schild, spring is the best time to buy winter stuff. <$$$ I'm looking for a snow-blower.

You can't appreciate the affliction jacket until you see it in person. Serious.

Also, a snow-blower is not clothing. My point was, there aren't many leather jackets out there to buy right now. You're more likely to find a nice blazer or track jacket. Leather jackets come out around early-fall. Right now he's stuck having to look at places like Burlington fucking Coat Factory and biker shops filled with nothing to armpit stench and bad taste. Clothing requires fags, fags require cleanliness, biker shops have neither.

My advice is to go check out some second hand stores / Goodwill if you have any near you. Admittedly I live in London so I have a better than normal choice, but I managed to pick up two second hand lined leather bomber jackets (one tan, one oxblood) for £10 and £23 respectively in the sale from a second hand/vintage shop. They have the added bonus of being well worn in and so are incredibly comfortable to wear; yet they are both in incredibly good condition. I'd also advocate trying on a leather jacket as they are one type of clothing that really needs to be assessed for fit, weight and comfort.

The only place in the US to get a good vintage leather jacket is in San Francisco. Pretty sure Margalis doesn't live there.

There are a number of vintage shops that sell online, but the majority of their inventory is pretty terrible.  I think you'd have better luck with finding a jacket that you like and having it customized (there are a number of shops in California that do this), but it can get quite expensive.  There's also eBay.

Here's an example of a leather coat from an online vintage shop.

Agreed. Can't believe that would be preferred over a biker jacket either... Those will always be around. That thing above will go out of style yesterday.

Stray, Monarchy has been popular for a few years now, just like that.

By the way, what do you mean by black leather jacket anyways? I assumed biker because you wanted a skull or something. I can't imagine much else looking cool with that.

Or do you just want something like a blazer? Button/Suit like, or more like a thin bomber with zippers?

Not leather, but they are black with skulls on the back. Flaming skulls. Of Death. $118

Alternately, you can buy a plain black leather jacket, drag it behind your vehicle around the block a few times, and then safety pin a piece of fabric like an old t-shirt design (or the skin of your enemies) to the back.

That's pretty close to what I was looking for. Not a biker jacket with tons of zippers and shit. 1.5k is a little much though.

My idea of a cool skull is the Earth X Punisher logo.

There seem to be a number of shops that make custom motorcycle jackets.  Some are pretty terrible, but I bet there might be a few worth noting if your Google-fu is strong.  Again, cost could be the limiting factor.

Am I the only one that think the shirts with the, um, embellished skull designs scream "I'M STILL 17 AND AND ANGRY AT MY PARENTS"?

No?  Just me?  I'll just slowly back out of this thread then.   Hello Kitty

Yeah, I'm older. My skulls are stuck in 80s cartoons like Skeletor. I don't actually wear skulls.

Margalis, you still haven't answered Why.

Otherwise your only real option for A skull jacket that doesn't look like shitass clipart is that Affliction one.

Edit: Skulls have been back in fashion for a few years now. Well, cute ones and awesome ones. Not shitty 70s and 80s ones. Though Ed Hardy/Christian Audigier is trying like a motherfucker to change that.

I saw a cute girl on the bus a while ago wearing a fleece jacket covered in little skulls.

As far as the "I'm 17 and angry" thing it really depends on the skull.
