I've been very slowly finishing my basement and am almost at the drywall stage. Right now, just behind the couch in the home theatre area, is a bulkhead that I'll be mounting my rear speakers on. I'm debating going with an in-ceiling/in-wall speaker for my rears, but keep reading differing opinions on whether or not that's a good idea.
Anyone tried using in-ceiling speakers for rears in a home theatre set up? Good? Bad? Quit asking dumb questions and mount regular speakers for the rears?
I plan on moving the rears to the very back of the basement as zone 2 speakers, so when I have people over playing foosball etc I can have music playing all through the basement.

My (possibly worthless) opinion is that you can really feel free to use almost anything for the rear speakers. 90% of what comes out of them is whoosh, bang, crowd noise, honking. It's mainly just ambience, not sound that is of high importance.

That was sorta my thoughts as well. As long as it was a 'decent' speaker, it should handle the back pretty well, but I have never really used in-ceiling or in-wall speakers for anything, especially home theatre set ups.
