Diluted Fool

So, I looked into reactivating my old account.  The credit card option is 14.99/month, but they want a $5 "activation fee".  So, being a cheap bastard, I looked into game time cards. It looks like I can just add a GTC to my account and not have to pay the $5.

I looked around but just found shady-looking websites selling GTCs.  Does anyone know a good/proven/otherwise worthy source?  Is there anywhere out there that one can get a discount by buying GTCs, or are they all the same cost as just using a credit card directly with CCP?

Maybe I'll avoid the hassle and just eat the $5...

Witty banter not included.

Actually I think they'll deduct their $5 from your GTC, so you'll only have 20 days of playtime on it.  For the first one.

If you click on the "my account" portion of eve-online, there should be a clicky for authorized GTC dealers.  I'd assume those were somewhat less shady.

I bought two GTCs from http://www.shatteredcrystal.com/ which is listed on the "approved GTC sellers" page on eve-online.com.  One over a year ago when I first was playing, one last night.  Didn't have any issues.  Used paypal.

I used a time card to reactivate, and got the full 30 days.  Don't worry about losing any of the time.

So that's not your site, but you're an affiliate, right?

I'm curious about the business plan.  Do you know anything about it?  Do the websites get the GTCs in bulk at a discount and resell them?  I wonder what the profit per is.  There doesn't seem to be any variation in prices - I wonder if they are forbidden from selling them less than CCP sells them?

That was actually one of the less-shady, but still shady websites I saw. There are a few errors here and there and the site sort of looks like it could use a good visual designer.  Those sorts of things are what makes people think that something isn't quite right.  But if you vouch for them I guess that's good enough for me :)

Yah none of the sites are that great .. and all of them require you to 'verify' your identity with a phone call before your account is considered 'good'. Once they do that, you can buy as much as you want whenever.

For the business thingy, I think affiliates get 75 cents per 30 day and 1.50 per 90 day or something like that?

They basically rack it up for you and then at the end of the month credit to your paypal account.

I always use Shattered Crystal, who are great.  The first time, they phone you up to verify the registered card-owner (or someone with access to their phone) is really doing the ordering.  After that they email the code to you within seconds every time.

I did an IP check a while ago and I'm pretty sure ShatteredCrystal and evetimecodes.com are both under the same secure RMT franchise. Usually I avoid anything related to RMT out of principle, but it's just timecodes for me. It is nice that some people offer ways to avoid credit card fraud and scamming while pocketing some of the money, but buying imagenary items for real cash is for nubs.

Another approval for ShatteredCrystal. I've used them a few times in the past with good results.

I use ShatteredCrystal as well. Cheaper to buy GTCs from US because € > $. First time they do call you and ask crazy questions (like can you name some major highways near your place of residence). The call came within 15 minutes of the order and I think it was very early morning in the US (where I assume they are located). Subsequent orders have arrived within seconds except the my last one which was marked needing "manual confirmation" for whatever reason. That was delivered within 30 minutes (it just arrived, they didn't call or anything).
