The problem with this and with XNA is the distribution channel, or lack of one.
For XNA, I believe thats what the new community games thing is supposed to solve.

On second look this might not be as interesting to me as I first thought. The page calls it a graphics engine instead of a game engine, which has me thinking it's just like OGRE, where you still have to hook it up and do all the tools, networking, etc programming yourself.
Personally (since I'm doing game creation as a hobby) I'd rather have an all inclusive engine whre I can focus just on gameplay programming. Still will be useful for a lot of people though.
