I'm not crazy about Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye.  And I don't much care for Johnny Cash, either.  Don't kill me.

I was thinking Blake should join Maroon 5. He did their material quite well, and it actually turned me onto the band, they're pretty good for pop stuff.

I think Aretha is one of those artists that is better appreciated with a context.  Johnny Cash is a love/hate thing.  I think people either really love the guy or they don't.

Yeah, but Marvin Gaye?  I thought everyone loved him.

I'd have forgiven you if you stopped before hating on Johnny. I woke up to "Hurt" this morning on my alarm clock. Seemed a really appropriate way to start a Monday.

Oh, and I admit to being a bit of a reality tv junkie.

I didn't say I hated him.  I don't even hate the other two.  I'm just not a fan.  OR A ZOMBIE!

C'mon, who doesn't like Aretha and Marvin Gaye? I mean, I'm sure most of these contestants are dumb and young, but those are two names that universally known and loved. I'm willing to give Idol contestants that credit at least.

I love Aretha and Marvin Gaye. I don't love barely-talented, pretty-faced assclowns butchering a muzak version of those two artists' great works.

Oh. Just so you all know:

David Archuleta. Good luck anyone else winning. This guy sounds like a combination of Richard Marx and Josh Groban to me. Completely relevant and actually pretty damn good.

So not completely relevant then. :)

Did you hear him? He's good. Like, nobody else on the guys' side should be singing with him good.

Most of the people on the guys side shouldn't be there, that's for sure. The judges have to keep repeating that this is the best season ever in the hopes that somebody will believe them. He is good, though I do prefer the Aussie ringer.

He's trying way too hard to change up his songs. Just sing the fucking melody. You don't need to tack on two or three extra syllables to every word. He's the Anwar Robinson of this season.
