Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Anakin ever considered a full-enough jedi during that time period to have a padawan?

Yeah, I thought Anakin was Obi-Wan's padawan until he flipped.

I'm glad it wasn't just me. But never let it be said that Lucas remains consistent with his own fucking continuity.

My immediate reaction was, "At last, Lucas has achieved his longstranding goal of completely removing real humans from Star Wars."

The animated Clone Wars was really good -- plus, done by the Samurai Jack guy. Having said that, I don't plan on watching this, because undoubtably it will suck so fucking much as to retroactively remove my enjoyment of the original.

What? You think you're some kind of jedi with those mind tricks? They won't work on me! I'm an ill conceived and poorly designed CGI creation with a dubious accent of possibly middle eastern origin included solely to act as minor comic relief and to not so subtly cast aspersions that all people of a certain ethnicity are profit obssessed swindlers with a gambling addiction and criminal affiliations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Anakin ever considered a full-enough jedi during that time period to have a padawan? Depends on if they consider the Clone Wars animated shorts as cannon material. In the animated shorts, he was officially promoted to full Jedi Knight status (so i assume he could have his own padawan, unless only official Jedi Masters get that right) due to wartime shortage of Knights.

I'm pretty certain it /is/ considered canon. Thus the way it neatly segways from the end of the cartoon directly into the opening minutes of RoS. Hell, the cartoon is the only reason folks know why Grievous wheezes like a fuck, and even who the hell he is.

Hell, the cartoon is the only reason folks know why Grievous wheezes like a fuck, and even who the hell he is. The Clone Wars comics give a lot more background to Grievous, Dirge and Asajj Ventress. It also covers most of how Anakin becomes a knight, specifically after Obi-Wan goes missing, presumed dead. There's a fair few stories about padawans losing their masters too and taking on new masters against all Jedi protocol so in that context, the idea of Anakin taking a padawan isn't so far fetched. The comics and the Tartakovsky cartoons are quite worthwhile IMO - so much better than the films.

Depends on if they consider the Clone Wars animated shorts as cannon material. You mean like material that should be shot from a cannon? I think odds are very good that it'll be considered that way.

On one hand, I don't really care about these Star Wars side projects and have no particular intention of watching them. On the other hand, I positively love the butthurt weeping of internet dorks who are too thoroughly bitches of George Lucas to just go "meh, no thanks" and instead have to go off with the "wah wah my childhoold" routine.

Can you really call a major theatrical release a side project? in any case I'm personally a little to young for star wars to have been my childhood. I saw them, I liked them but I just roll my eyes when I hear this stuff. The whole franchise inspires the same reaction as news of anaconda 3 for me now.

Curse you Samwise. I was working on something clever as soon as I saw the post, and you beat me to it. The minor amount of hope I have for a live action Star Wars series is mostly based on the fact that the actor who portrayed Scorpius in Farscape had a cameo at the end of Episode III as a youngish Grand Moff Tarkin. If you're going to try a scifi series, it's a good start to get a guy who's protrayed one of the great scifi villains.

Can you really call a major theatrical release a side project? I can when it's animated, when it's the lead-in for a television series, and when it's yet another case of crammed-in "between the movies" exposition that by definition can't affect anything important. And ultimately, it's a side-project because... it just feels like one. I mean, if this project were an official Episode VII with Han, Luke, and Leia having adventures as fat old geezers, I'd flip shit and jizz all over the forum screaming "OMG HOPE ITS AS GOOD AS SITH!" while people threw things at me and called for my head. Instead, I just don't give a shit. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I saw Vader go into the suit, and baby Luke get dropped off at the farm. Star Wars is over. They can flog it to death and, unlike some others, I don't begrudge them their moneyhats. But I won't be watching.

Side project or SWgasm? We need to be clear on these matters.

I love it when a new Star Wars movie debuts. It means that I get to see more weirdos waiting in line in darth vader costumes.

I was disappointed when I went to the midnight opening of Sith at the biggest theater around here. A whole bunch of teenagers and regular people and crap, and like two embarassed-looking fat dudes in black capes who didn't seem to have counted on being the only two to show up in costumes. Oh, and some chick who MUST have been someone's sister, because she was WAY too cute for either of them.

Bob... was that a Commander Choad reference? Nice.
I've always wanted to see the Zahn books adapted into some sort of film, but it will never happen. Lucas won't canonize anything he didn't come up with himself, and Zahn's books just make everything Lucas has actually written look like piles of crap.

On one hand, I don't really care about these Star Wars side projects Ultima Online and have no particular intention of watching them playing it ever. On the other hand, I positively love the butthurt weeping of internet dorks who are too thoroughly bitches of George Lucas to just go "meh, no thanks" Trammel and/or Felucca marks and instead have to go off with the "wah wah my childhoold idea is far superior than your idea" routine.
Not sure how you're in a good position to point and laugh.

Are you kidding? I did love their butthurt weeping, and said as much frequently. Sometimes I would fish for it, other times they would run into threads and offer it up out of the blue. The time that one crazy shit registered just to necro a year-old "lol pks" thread of mine, rant about Trammel, blow the thread up from 2 pages to 30, and singlehanded create the f13 chart meme? Most fun I've ever had here.

I meant that butthurt Starwars fans would be analogous to butthurt UO fans. I think you know what category you're in. Also, it was all in good fun.
