http://www.cms.playcatan.com/index.php?lang=en_USPlayCatan is looking for fifty playtesters for the English version of its Catan Online World (COW). Enrollment is first come, first serve, and interested parties should contact Gavin Allister ( gavinallister@catan.com), head of the English-speaking COW community. On COW, you can play Settlers of Catan for free; with a Premium membership, you can play various Seafarers and Cities & Knights scenarios, along with other games from Klaus Teuber. COW plans to launch its English version in Spring 2008. If anybody is into that sort of thing…

"Should the batman kill Joker because it would save more lives?" is a fundamentally different question from "should the batman have a bunch of machineguns that go BATBATBATBATBAT because its totally cool?". ~Goumindong

Alternatively, you could just go here: http://games.asobrain.com and play Settlers, Seafarers and Knights and Cities for free in a browser. :P

Somebody needs to translate all the fuckton of board game/war game sets into a nice looking digital form, and charge a monthly fee. What ever few box sales companies would actually lose (because frankly most of the type of gamers who play those now are going to be playing the physical form anyways) would be way offset by opening them up to a much much larger player base. With a computer automatically handling the rules, it would decrease the time investment to play, and make it a lot more viable for most people. Not to mention removing the tedious bits and letting you just have fun.
On top of that, if somebody like Rackham or GW would be ballsy and actually start translating their miniature games to digital, that would be awesome as well, but I know better than to have hope for that.
