http://kotaku.com/354350/riccitiello-on-how-not-to-blow-it-the-ea-wayBullfrog, Origin Systems, and Westwood Studios rank as some of the best development houses of all time. They also happen to represent three of EA's most spectacular failures. "We at EA blew it," said EA CEO John Riccitiello at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas this morning, "To a degree, I was involved in those things, so I blew it."
While Riccitiello was proud of his achievements at EA following his return to the company, he warned developers and publishers not to make some of the mistakes the company has made in the past. Those mistakes, he said, involved the stifling of creative talent and their ensuing departure. OK, granted, anyone with half a brain outside of EA management could have told him this over half a dozen years ago, but still.

He doesn't really "get it" at all. He's just found that it's slightly more difficult to buy out development houses now that it's widely known that being bought by EA is the kiss of death. It's costing him money now so he's going to claim that it doesn't happen anymore.

I think it's ironic that he said this at a DICE summit. Aren't they currently destroying the venerable Battlefield series by dumbing it down, ripping off the cartoony TF2 graphics and turning it into a free game paid for entirely by a hitherto unseen number of in game ads?
Fuck.
Edit: They actually call the program "Play 4 Free". That's right, 4.

No. As they've said several times, that isn't the next game in the main Battlefield series, it's a side project.

Touche. It's incredible that so many douches achieve leadership positions with such simple tactics. Cry until something happen, lie if it backfires.

I'm taking HR and it's sad that they actually teach us to write that.

I frequent a wrestling forum now and then, and that's pretty much word-for-word the line that most wrestlers get on the WWE website when they're canned.
Well, the ones who leave on good-to-neutral terms.

Strangely enough I was thinking the exact same thing.
