...who would like to use up one of their free "resurrection" trials on me?
I'm getting the itch and I need to scratch but this seems a good way to do it.

I play on the US servers, so I have no idea if I will be able to help you.
Also I am about to get very drunk.
I'll look into it tomorrow

Send me character name , realm and email and I should be able to cast this scroll of resurrection. I think. The ever laconic Ironwood is currently having a stab at doing it. I know I can apparently take on 4 3 trials (from different people) but whether you all get a free month if and when I pay my subs is something I haven't checked out. No harm in trying I guess.

I play on Uldum, and I usually play from 5:00 AM EST to about 7:45 EST (or later, depending if I work or not). Isn't that EU time? Or is it further out? I can never remember. If it is during your timezone, shoot me a line.

So I signed up on this free "resurrection" trial after an absence of 9 months, rerolled a belfadin on an old RP-PVP server that I ran away from a long, long time ago (2 years plus? Not sure my son was even born the last time I played on that server!) and got ganked by a lvl ?? (probably) Ally hunter* in my first hour. Before I was even level 7. In Eversong, right outside Silvermoon City.
Welcome back to the joys of a PvP server! I'm beginning to remember why I went PvE!
*(He used a viper trap, before anyone asks - I wasn't declared and I didn't attack. I might be stupid and all that...)

Yeah he was at least 66, most likely 70. Add that to being a hunter, and he's a guaranteed prick.
In fact, we just had this chat in the Venture Co. channel on Sunday: Most likely to gank.
1) Hunters (esp. NE Hunters) 2) Gnome Warlocks 3) Rogues
Meanwhile, it seemed like Humans and Druids were less likely to just out and out jump you for no good reason.
Me? I just like rooting folks at the Murlocs in STV and watching them drown. Take that you pissant level 33 Hunter, too pussy to level on your own so you're being babysat by 2 70s who decided that 35 druid looked tasty. Fuck you.

I am probably in the minority, but lay off the Hunters. I am playing on in the F13 guild on Venture Co. right now and if I couldn't level as quickly and easily as this class does, I probably would not still be playing because I am a slow leveler by nature, and I have burned out on other classes before. That being said, regarding PvP, I've run into my fair share of assholes while leveling who decide to try and gank me. Not one of them was a Hunter. I'm guessing they wanted to dissuade an assumed "prick" player from getting to higher levels. I am only 26 at the moment, and the other night a 30 Dwarf Paladin decided to lay some smack down while running past. He got the jump on me, but I had him down to 22 hp, and he would have died from the remaining DoT ticks if he hadn't healed right after I died. So I run back to my corpse and the asshole is camping it. Okay, it's on. I rez and call my pet back and stand behind a copse of trees so he can't see me while I bandage up and rebuff. Send in the pet and start pelting the guy with arrows. He's almost dead and invulns and heals back to full. Apparently he still couldn't spot me so I continue to mow him down. So yes, I admit that the fact that I could so handily beat him with a level 26 character is pretty rough. Of course, if he had got right up in my face, it would have been a different story. Serves him right for screwing with me considering I'm not a ganker. I do enjoy PvP, so I am always hopeful that someone around my level range will feel the need to attack. And why not? At least then it makes for some fun gaming and stays in the spirit of the RP-PvP server. I cannot see the justification for level 70 ganking for the sake of hazing people, but if a 70 is running through the zone I am in to get somewhere and spots me, I would not begrudge them the kill because it is an RP server and I am the enemy. Then again, I never have baby-sitters either.

Oh? You play on a PvP server and got ganked? Who would've thought?!
I prefer PvE just for this reason. I think it's fucking stupid that someone can roll up on me just because Time_Invested_His>Time_Invested_Mine.
Let's go to battlegrounds and duke it out! :D

My main's a hunter. All the hate I have for them is for the typical player, not the class. When you hit 70 and are denied access to most of the stuff because 90% of the people playing your class are retards you get a bit jaded and bitter.
Also, when I reffer to "ganking" it's always about the twits who con ?? to a player, but find the need to kill them over and over again. IF you've spent time in the Tarren Mill area you know the type I'm referring to. If you haven't, you'll find out soon enough.
I don't begrudge any of the folks within my level range their victories over me.. even if I'm double or triple-teamed. That's just part of the game. Its when I have a 0% chance of doing shit to them and they KNOW it and that's exactly why they're doing it that I get a hair up my ass.

Just hit level 66 on Venture company myself and here's what I've noticed: 99% of my pvp deaths are to a) a level 70, b) someone 5+ levels higher than me, c) a group containing 2-3 people my level or higher.
I've only ever been attacked by a player +/- 3 levels away from me ONCE when I wasn't fighting multiple mobs in all of my 66 levels.
Summary: WoW PvP servers are full of pussies that will only attack in the open when they have a sizeable advantage. PERIOD.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not actually whining about it, just amused that it happened in friendly territory (where I should be safe) before I even got my first talent point. I noticed that he was also a member of an alliance guild that was notorious for ganking when I first started out on that server. Colour me very unfucking surprised. (This is also Venture Co. server but EU version). Last night a group of 4 70s waded through Ghostlands killing all the quest NPCs and bat handlers and ventured into Silvermoon. Two Horde 70s showed up and kicked their asses. It was a beautiful thing. Out of interest, as I've never played alliance, but do you get the same deal in low level ally territories? I.e. rampaging high levels laying waste to low zone NPCs or players?

Well, here's me being an ass. Well, I suppose not really, because if you're at Gurubashi at 19 and PVPed, expect to be slain. (Oh, and this is after I stun locked a terrible warlock (well he had to be terrible, my gear isn't good and he died before he could cast anything) and got the arena chest). Lulz.

Yes. On my server [pvp] there are almost always 2-3 horde lv70s ganking in Redridge (level 15-20 contested zone), Westfall (level 10-18 alliance zone), Darkshire (level 20-30 contested zone) and Ashenvale (level 20-30 contested zone). Of these, Ashenvale is the only zone that has a horde outpost. I frequently play anti-pk on my warrior when I'm bored, and these gankers are invariably horrible. I remember when a group of six [!] horde 70s zerged lakeshire, and me + a druid friend cleaned them out. Then they rezzed and came back for more, and we killed 'em again, without guards. :P (Edit: speaking of 'NE hunter' stereotypes, these gankers are almost always undead rogues, undead warlocks and orc hunters are also common) -- Z.

Yeah, I didn't think all Horde were as honourable as I am. And watch what you say about undead 'locks! That being said, I ganked a nelf hunter in Ashenvale once who was about 6 levels lower than me. Just the once. I ignored her when she came back. Or waved or something. I'm nice like that. Then there was the time I went after an elf in Ratchet. That was an ill thought out plan if ever there was one... cmlancas - you're not an ass for that. If I saw a 19 PVPed in Gurubashi, I'd have a pop too, especially if you're on a PvE server. You might as well hang a sign on your back saying "kick the retard!" Having said that, I once got a lvl 1 warlock all the way from Durotar to Booty Bay and one tosser decided that it he'd make a point of killing me. It was more amusing to see all the other allies emoting "rude" and "sigh" at him though. At least they appreciated daytripping tourists!

Of course they're horrible. If they weren't, they would be engaged in PvP with people of their own level. Once you get to level 70, you discover that there a much fewer people prepared to attack you, even if you're fighting a mob. You're still an easy target for groups of level 70s, but there are fewer of them around, and they tend to kill you once and move on to whatever they got into a group for. WoW PvP is horribly flawed and people are horribly broken, but in the end its worth it for the big battles at Halaa and other objectives and zones of contention. On most PvE servers these places are won sneaky-sneaky in the dead of night when there's chance of winning them by PvE only. Grim.

On most PvE servers these places are won sneaky-sneaky in the dead of night when there's chance of winning them by PvE only. Grim. It's not any better on pvp servers, either. Most of the time someone just solo-caps the city with zero interference, turns in the tokens, and leaves. Very rarely a guild "camps" the city and kills would-be-attackers for tokens, but I've only seen that happen once since BC was released. And yeah, I agree with the "gankers gank because they can't cut it against level 70 targets", this sadly seems to hold true for MOST gankers (I've seen exceptions.. very very few exceptions. They typically go for capital cities instead of lowbie towns, anyway). Ditto with the other 'world pvp' elements. The hellfire towers are just taken by whoever wanders their way, nobody cares about the zangarmarsh ruins, and there's usually a mad rush (mostly with epic flying mounts, avoiding pvp as much as possible) in Auchindoun to cap the towers when they become capturable. Sadly, world PVP in WOW is a waste of time, really. The 'pvp-oriented' folks just go for battlegrounds or arenas -- both of which are available on PVE servers all the same. Even though my guild used to be a hardcore antipk guild in the UO days [yes, pre-trammel, cue the ], nowadays we wish we rolled on a PVE or RP server way-back-when. -- Z.

I don't have a lot of experience on PvE servers. On a PvP, the person has to trick or convince you to attack them if you're in a "safe" area (i.e. Horde Territory).
On a PvE, do you have to flag to even have the option to attack? Do you get the sword cursor if you're not flagged? I wonder if the same trick would have worked on a PvE server, if you can just attack the opposite faction if they're flagged (forcing an auto-flag for you of course).
Apparently he tricked you into attacking one of his snakes somehow, is all I can think. They used to be able to cause that viper trap to attack people in some sploitable way, but I thought they fixed that.

Possible outcomes for PvP on a PvE server:
1) You're flagged for PvP. Anyone can attack you on the opposite faction. 2) You're in an arena and have a sword. Anyone on any side can attack you. 3) You're in a PvP instance.
There ya go.

Couldn't have said it better. I play a mage on VC and tend to die... 96% of the time I am faced with another. I have only ever killed one person. A Nelf hunter who decided to attack me when I was sitting drinking. I got away and recharged. I crept back up and found him at half health after fighting a mob. I was completely max range to him (out of his shot range) and I just laid into him. By the time his pet got to me he was dead and then the pet died too. I felt great because some little chickenshit cocksucker decided to try and gank me for an easy kill and I came back and beat him senseless. I was playing the Hinterlands the other night and a 70 mage kept coming by and AOEing me to death. A hunter, a lock, etc all decided I was an easy mark and kept camping my body afterwards. Honestly, victim classes are no fun in world PvP. But hey, it's a PvP server and you gotta roll with the punches. Alliance camps out Splintertree Post every Sunday night and ganks all the lowbies for some reason on VC.

An idle bit of surfing and remembering to look this up shows that yes, there is a bug with the Hunters snake trap and gankage of unflagged players and that players guilty of this should be reported for exploiting. Reference thread from EU forums. It would be petty of me to report him three days after the fact. Then again, I tend to get petty while drunk and I'm invariably drunk while playing.

I'm pretty sure it's because the Horde camps Astranaar every Sunday night. TM gets attacked and Southshore gets attacked. Both sides are the same, the players aren't any different. I hear the same complaints and observations about the other side on both my alliance and horde servers.
