What medicine do you use to cope, prolong, or revel in the holidays?

In a stunning turn of events, moving the West Coast, this year's winner at our place are:

1) the Mimosa (a girly drink -- champagne and OJ)

2) the Nagasaki (courtesy of The Office -- sake and eggnog).

I know.  I'd be more surprised if they didn't confuse me as much.

Mostly, alot of red wine or bourbon.  I can't stomach eggnog.

At all.

Water!  I don't drink alcohol.  Everyone else around me seems to just love to drink wine and beer.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

The same as I like the rest of the year: a full red wine when I can get it, which is rare - the few family members who drink wine are women who drink white zin shit.  If not that, Scotch at my in-laws.  They're fine people, but they have a huge deck they like to socialize on, even when it's 40 degrees outside.

On egg nog; I love it, but only the non-alcoholic stuff so I'm not sure it counts.

Eggnog tears my stomach apart from the inside. That's all I know. Even if there was a good buzz involved, it wouldn't pleasant anyhow.

Eggnog.  Specifically the Borden's that comes in a can. The local dairy 'nog just can't match it.

Other than that it's beer.  Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat or their Holiday brew.   Since I'm the only family member that drinks liquor, that's all that's around unless I'm buying it for myself, and I just can't finish a bottle off fast enough to justify buying it.

I don't drink eggnog because I can't tolerate that much milk, otherwise I like the taste. Is that why other people here don't drink it?  Or is there something else.  Me... I drink water mostly on Xmas.  If I'm feeling particularly festive, I'll drink Figi Fiji water or Perrier.

Edit:  Geez.

I loves me some eggnog (especially the boozy kind), but it treats my GI tract like the Sioux treated Custer and his boys. Thus far I have gotten by with Pacifico and a heaping glass of Bookers on the rocks. Not sure what the drink of choice will be fore New Year's Eve.

When speaking of the MMOG industry, the glass may be half full, but it's full of urine. HaemishM

It's hard to pin down a single favorite.  The traditional beginning of Christmas Eve in my family is ice-cracking for a round of Old-Fashioneds, so that's the drink I always tend to think of when I think Christmas.  The rest of the cast tends to vary from year to year, but this year some of the highlights were Muscat dessert wine on Christmas Eve (MMMM GOOD) and Cosmopolitans on Christmas Day.

I made a batch of lemon chuhai (short for shochu highball) for myself and the mom in law the other night, and that was great. Shochu (or Korean soju), fresh-squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup and club soda for a bit of sparkle. Yum.

Other than that, been drinking about a half case of bubbly every night.

My step-mom made an awesome mix of brandy and french vanilla ice cream.  Otherwise, I'm not picky.

Or, as it's more accurately called - Buck's Fizz. A glass of Buck's Fizz is mandatory for first thing Xmas morning.

Oh, and as for the original question - mulled wine. Or mulled cider. Either's good.

I'm drinking an 18 year old single barrel Kentucky Bourbon from Elijah Craig.

I also like red wine.

My family has a number of holiday drinks. The holidays start with vanilla Hagen-Daaz blended with egg nog and spiced rum. Then we have the martinis. There's the mistletoe martini which has apple brandy, sweet and sour, cranberry juice, and dried cranberries. Then there is the grinch martini which is midori and citrus vodka. Then there is the spiced cranberry infused vodka my mom makes. Then there is a lot of passing out.

Light eggnogg mixed with vodka and warmed, with a spinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg on top.

Ok, that really was probably the single gayest sentence I've ever written but what can I say, cinammon and nutmeg are great with warm eggnogg.

Simond said Mimosa - pick on him!  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Eggnog (Lactaid eggnog ftw!) and Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur.  I get three months of seasonal bliss out of this combo.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Someone showed up with homemade Irish Cream and Limoncello at the party last night.  Happened to be while I was bartending, so I got plenty of it!

Didn't someone around here in some thread or other say how they hate bartenders?  You should track them down and give a good what for!

I'm the guy who was dumb enough to shell out money for a bartending course a few years back, and I almost never do anything with it.  I only ended up behind the bar because I wanted to do a shot right after midnight and no one was back there, so while I was making my own drinks other people started coming up and asking for stuff.  Voila, I was stuck behind the bar for about an hour.
