It's been awhile since I played in any serious way, and while I'm not planning to catass anytime soon, I figure I should update my mods.

I was using Lightheaded/TomTom and have updated those.  Thumbs up!

MetaMap seems to have gone the way of the dodo, so I need a new, good map mod without too much extra bullshit. Scalable maps and coordinates, and the ability to control my character while the map is up is all I want. Instance maps are a bonus, but not mandatory. Catrographer doesn't seem to have been updated in donkeys' ears, so I'm not sure on it.

I was using Informant and EnhToolTip but neither of these seem to be updated either.

I'm after a threat meter. There's one that's supposed to be a bit better than KTM, but I can't figure out the name.

Would like a good mod for my lock, who I will probably be levelling a bit.

Dunno what else. I like to keep it reasonably simple so that poatch day isn't too painful. I run Auctioneer now and then.

Omen is the better-than-ktm threatmeter [technically it's only a frontend and the 'real' threatmeter is the threat1.0 library, but that's semantics], I really recommend it. It also has 'backwards compatibility' with KTM, so your unenlightened/lazy party members will still see your threat.
For a warlock, I recommend DoTimer (keeps track of your DOTs on multiple mods, cooldowns, etc); I used to like Necrosis at 60, but didn't find myself needing it at high levels, it just added clutter.
I use Cartographer, there are several different versions, but I'm using the most 'up-to-date' version of the vanilla one (from wowace). It has instance maps and all.

Cartographer is going through a bit of turbulence atm. The author decided to write his own framework to replace Ace2 and convert all his mods to it, and now seems to be either losing interest or be busy converting his other mods. I use the Ace2 reclaimed version which some authors who didnt share his vision are maintaining. It's listed at http://files.wowace.com/ as cartographer1 on page 5

Both of these are part of auctioneer, also in the midst of an upgrade. Download the classic version from http://auctioneeraddon.com/
Dispite it being in beta it's been rock solid for me.

Omen. Some people have had to run ktm to get it to work but I suspect they got versions without the threat library.

I use a shard deleter and that's about all. Dot timers might be nice as would timers on when banish will drop.

Yea, just go get Auctioneer and you've got everything you ever needed and then some.

Omen, definitely. I just pull it off of WoWAce. It's sorta aggravating how it seems to get updated every 20 minutes or so though.

I still use CTMod because I'm so used to how I've customized my UI over the years with it. I can't go back to the default UI at this point.

The only mods I use are Omen and TotemTimers. Everyone else in my guild runs all the meters and item info mods and all that jazz, so I can skip them.

Playing a shaman without some kind of totem/bar mod is just painful. Only class I ever felt that I *NEEDED* a mod to play it properly.

I'd probably get some kind of raid healing frame if I ever did anything bigger then a 10man.

Got a question for you guys. I'm looking for a good PVP/Battlegrounds stat tracking mod. Mostly just simple stuff. W-L records, timers on objectives, ect.

The few I have tried were old and cluttered or just missing features I thought were DUH features.

I don't know about tracking win/loss but Deadly boss mods has a battlegrounds package that's wonderful.  The timers tell you how long until an objective captures in AB/AV, and how long until a win in EoTS/ AB. (obviously the EoTS timer is "if there aren't any more flag caps" but it does update on each cap.)

Back in my BG days, I used Titan a lot. This is a family of mods that let you add specific modules to a top and/or bottom screen-spanning bar. And there were modules for everything, from how many Honor Points you had to what you could buy with them to timers for each BG, etc.

BattlegroundFu (fubar plugin) does all the stuff that titan BG did back in the day, but for FuBar.

Cartographer still works great for a map mod and is updated at least once a week, though I don't do much with it other than track herb/mining nodes and use a smaller map with coords.

For ace mods, places like curse almost never have the current version, so if you find a mod you want to try at those places, go to files.wowace.com and grab the newest version from there.

Last I heard, Titan was no longer really being updated.  It's a shame, because I like the look of Titan better, but there is a plugin for everything (no, really) available for FuBar.  It's also Ace as mentioned, so you can either use the updater or go to files.wowace.com and always find the most recent version.  No remembering a separate website for every mod.

Witty banter not included.

I use almost all Ace2 mods.

Ace2:
Omen - Better than KTM in every way it counts.

AtlasLoot - Forget how many badges it takes to pick up the item you want, or if such and such a boss drops anything you care about? Use this.

ORa2 - Replaces CTRaid functions.

Prat - A bizillion chat-window mods rolled into one.

Quartz - Castbar mod with a built in lag-meter. Very handy for picking up enemy casts or properly timing your spells and abilities. The timing thing isn't quite as awesome as it used to be since Blizz changed the way spells and abilities queue up I think.

Cartographer - As mentioned I think some other people are working on the original now.

Bartender3 - Better than Bongos in my opinion. Action Bar mod.

ClearFont2 - Font changer, awesome.

CooldownCount - Shows numbers on your buttons for cooldowns.

RatingBuster - Turns ratings and stats into straight up % and HP/MP values, shows you a small summary of what stats you gain/lose compared to what you have equipped. If I can only have one mod it would be this.

RicoMiniMap - Movable, resizable minimap.

Xloot/XLootGroup - snappier loot windows, much less intrusive loot roll bars. I used to not like this mod but I got used to it and now I like it a lot. Great for preventing your screen from being completely filled with loot windows (which heroics are terrible about...a last boss in a heroic can yield 2 blues, 1 epic, 1 epic gem, 1 nether, and then greens on top of that).

Non Ace2:
Natur EnemyCastBars - Keeps track of sheeps/banishes/saps/etc that other players or enemies cast, as well as spawn-times on trash in raids. Very handy, especially on sheeps or fights with really nasty debuffs since it picks those up too.

X-Perl Party Frames - A pretty damn nice set of party and raid frames that are easy to configure, give good information, and look nice. None of that 3 hours of tweaking OCD bullshit like Pitbull.

AuctioneerAdvanced - Auctioneer with vastly superior stuff. A faster scanner that can be paused and a handy auction poster. Takes some fiddling to get rid of the obnoxiously big information frames it adds when you look at loot though.

There was a mod some time ago that Tale mentioned - It compares items in your inventory/linked/on vendors with the stuff you're wearing currently and gives you the +/- on all stats and so forth.. anyone know the name of that one?

RatingsBuster does that.

It is an Ace2  mod.

I just use:

Deadly Boss Mods, for raid boss warnings and timers
Omen, for threat bars so I don't pass the tanks
Guild Event Manager (GEM) or Guild Calendar, depending on which one the guild I'm in prefers.
SW Stats, to keep track of my own DPS or HPS even if no one else is running meters

The standard raid UI is sufficient for me, I used to have CT_Raid but got rid of it.  I can make the Blizzard raid bars look the same as the CT_Raid bars, show debuffs, group by class, show pets, etc; they improved the UI sufficiently for me to use it.

I used to use Gatherer to keep track of resource nodes but stopped caring enough to continue, and Auctioneer seemed ok but I think it's less effective on a server where everyone uses it to determine what prices to sell at (plus, on a few occasions I could exploit the fact that they were using it untuned, and sneak deals in as it were).

The only thing I use is The Gatherer.  Everything else seems more complicated than need be.  Threat meters are nice though, but since I am not raiding with a 'lock I don't see much need for it.

You need to be running a threat meter for anyone else to see your threat, so just run Omen in the background.

Also, I use BigWigs for my boss timers since DBM gets on nerves.

Actually, if you are running with people who have threat meters but don't want to run one yourself for overhead issues or w/e, you can just install the Threat1.0 library and it will send your threat data to Omen for other people. Several mods have threat1.0 embeded (Pitbull unit frames being one I know of off the top of my head.)

I use Auctioneer advanced (Fan update), and Alphamap. You can find them both at wowinterface.  In fact, i think this is the best site for interfaces.

I've just started playing again, all addons broken, etc. so i've got a question; I'm looking for an addon that triggers commands (emotes and say, mainly) on various events, like getting aggro, player and monster critical hits, healing etc., I think someone once mentioned an addon like that, in here some while ago, but i forgot the name.

Also, I was using ReagentInfo/Data, but in-game it's listed as incompatible. Does anyone know if there's a 2.2.3-friendly version out there? (the addon's website, http://www.tarys.com/reagents/reagentinfo.html claims it to be 2.2.0+) if not, have you got any advice on which addon I shoud replace it with? :)

DoTimer for a warlock is very nice.

Stinkyqueue if you want to groupqueue for AV.

I used to use VanasKOS to keep track of people who ganked me.  It was great.  I never reinstalled it after TBC though, so I don't know if it's been updated.  I believe it's an Acemod.

I use Fubar with LocationFu and QuestFu.  SilverDragon is a cool little mod that alerts you when rares are spotted.

Couldn't live without Auctioneer.  I also like CTMail mod, but reverted back to an older version because the current one doesn't work properly for me (probably some conflict with some other mod).

I'm terrible about updating things.

Just installed it, and I'm having a bit of an issue with FuBar, where the bar inconsistently displaces the other UI elements (the minimap/character portrait for the top bar, and the hotkeys for the lower bar).  Occasionally, they'll line up with the edge of the FuBar box (which hides the zoom buttons for the map behind the side hotkey bar), and occasionally they'll jump back to their original default UI position (which hides my list of buffs, as well as most of my and my target's stat bars, behing the FuBar bar).  One or the other of these I can deal with, but it keeps skipping between one and the other and I can't figure out how to get it to stop without disabling the entire addon.  I'm new to this whole UI thing; is there some n00b mistake that I'm making?

I just now got into BG's and somebody told me to get Healbot since I'm, you know, a healer.

Where has this add-on been during my near 3 year life with WoW?  Seriosuly, it rocks.

The bar instantly puts everybody in the raid up and front on my UI.  Each bar only highlights if it is a person within range of my spells and is getting into trouble (settable as % of health.)  Then I just have to right click, left click, middle click, or any other combination of cntrl or shift to get different spells on that person including yourself.

It took me a bit to get it set up like I want and I'm still tweaking, but man I was healing/shielding/hotting like a mad man with great success.  Hell, this will be great for PvE instances too.

It is also good for non-healers in that you can assist others with just a click on their name.  Veddy Veddy nice!

I believe 'Grid' has the same options.  Not too sure on that, though, since I stopped being a full-time healer shortly before the whole "mods can't target people" change.  (oldskool one button heal spam ftw!)

What I usually do with fubar is turn off the bottom bar. From what I saw, and read, the latest fubar since conversion to the rock framework has this problem you mention but the old ace2 version doesn't. Sadly, it looks like the users get to suffer the most in the current battle between Rock and Ace2.  If it isn't selected, try turning on the auto-adjust frames option.  I use idMinimap  http://industrial.infogami.com/idMinimap which dumps a lot of, imo, useless parts of the mini map including the zoom in and out arrows, for a zoom controlled by your mouse wheel. Most addons let you move the position of where their  mini map icon sits though, usually by right clicking with or without some form of modifier key like alt or shift. (note for idMinimap though it hasn't been updated in a year it still works perfectly for me. Either edit the .toc or enable load out of date addons.)

A couple of other mods I use are SmartBuff ( http://wowui.incgamers.com/?p=mod&m=2323 ) and SmartDebuff (which is now included with SmartBuff.)

This sends out little messages when a buff you've cast on yourself or your party (or raid) is coming due for refresh. "Buff" in this case includes warrior shouts, hunter tracking style, sharpening stones, etc. Nice for rebuffing after you die and there's an option to buff targeted peeps not in your party for those drive-by buffs if you're feeling nice.

SmartDebuff has a window with boxes for your party (like Healbot or Grid), with a large letter that appears if there's a curse, poison or disease debuff that you can "fix" - and lets you one click to cast your debuff. (Hence the name.) I think Healbot (and Grid) may have the same feature, but I'd be arsed to find it. Not all the debuffers can heal, so I normally have SmartDebuff up for everyone, while I only use HealBot for my healers.

Have fun!

Ok, I can no longer function without these 3 mods:

1. Lightheaded - displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, most important feature is that it displays coordinates as clickable, which when combined with:
2. TomTom - makes for getting a quest, clicking coords for the quest, and getting a waypoint places on your map and minimap that you can run up to.  Basically means that I can get the coords for all my quests, and then see how they're stacked up on my map, then just run the circuit.  It's great.
3. Benecaster - if you heal at all, this is a must have for me.  It basically lets you place, very easily, healing/decursing/buffs/whatever buttons right next to the party window.  This means that you can just click on the heal button next to the party member getting hurt, and they get healed!

Optional but fun to have: atlas, atlas loots, mailmod, auctioneer.  Other than that, I just use the default bars and I'm golden.

Also, PowerMenu lets me put FireFox on top of WoW so I can watch nbc.com and abc.com while gaming.  I just shrink the window down and watch it as part of my UI in WoW.  Its really nice to have when the action is so furious that I have to focus all my attention @ WoW  Ohhhhh, I see.

Gatherer finally fixed their crash/ lockup bug so it's working fine.

Omen releases a new version every day or so right now.  I still get pop-ups about it failing in-between boss phases (like attumen and nightbane last night.) but for the most part it's worked things out.  I recommend using the ACE updater every time you go to login for the next week or two at least.

files.wowace.com has working versions of both of these (and they are both updated regularly). I have not had any real problems with either since the day after the patch. Omen you just need to make sure you have the newest version, as the author is constantly updating it (3-4 times a day).
