The only Thorax fit is 3x mag stab, neutrons, 5x hammerheads, point, web, mwd, DC, and your choice. ;)
Ouch, glass cannon fit! Probably more DPS than any battleship I fly though. I'd better bring a dozen. edit: 535 dps with T2 modules and T1 drones according to EFT. Heh.

That's pretty close to my fit, but fitting constraints on my newish character mean that I'm fitting ions instead of neutrons. I'm at work, so I can't remember the exact version of each, but it comes to:
5xIons
MWD, point, web
2 mag stabs, DC, SAR and 400mm plate or third mag stab.
The temptation of the plate is that it only increases my align time by .2 seconds and drops my top speed by 21m/s (with MWD going) while increasing my armour by 60%.
If someone has a small remote armour repper then that could go for another mag stab instead of the plate, but being put out of the next fight by taking significant armour damage in the first one and not having repping would be a pest.
The other lowslot config I thought about was nano, OD, istab, DC & mag stab, which sees me doing almost 2km/s but cuts my damage by 40/s, which is kinda counter-intuitive for a thorax. It's not quite fast enough to reliably speed tank and not quite agile enough to choose to orbit within range of my guns (except with longer range ammo), but was just in case everyone else (except the dot-in-the-distance blackbird) was going for a speed gang approach. Has anyone used nanite paste yet? I notice I can do almost 3km/s second with this fit by overloading the mwd, and the overloaded web approaches domi stats.

What's this op going to do? If we're going to 0.0 I could bring a dictor alt, but my corp is blue to BRUCE (I think Goonswarm is too) so that might be a problem if they're still in Syndicate. Failing that I could supply a cov ops on the same character or a newbie corp cruiser of some description.

Yeah, that's it. I tested a medium repper and a 800 plate, but that meant downgrading to electrons and only two mag stabs. I have to use a RCU to fit five neurons, so I might check out what using ions and your smaller tank does to the damage. Fun ship, this.

Dictor alt would be awesome.

Quotin dis. The range of tactical options it opens up are huge. I'll also chip in for replacement if our first-time-out-together gang gets you killed. Edit: faction fittings not included in offer. Terms and conditions apply. See website for details.

My thoughts for this initial run will be to scout out some gates to 0.0 and find one that has a few ships on it. We then bait them to aggress, bring in the dictor, and take em out. Once we take out a gate camp we roam over to another camp. Im guessing it will be the best way to find some non-blob action and using noob alts we can sum up the odds decently before hand. Anyone know of particular 0.0 entrances that might fit this bill?

Normally I would suggest the entrances to Providence from Dital and Kari/Esa, since they tend to attract newish pirates, and we'd be given positive encouragement by CVA if we made sure to inform them what we were doing, first (ie busting pirate camps).
However, as Slayerik knows, Tri are currently the very-fucking-far-from-newish-pirates who are most likely to be camping those (and the Misaba entrance), and while we have a pretty decent little gang going there from the look of it, it might not be the wisest move to try it out first on half a dozen fully-nanoed vagas and inties.

If they come along I'll have to warp off and leave you to die while laughing or something.

Ok, I guess we'll try a little northern Tour. We'll start in Torrinos.
If any vets can get a noob alt scout in m-o , p3en, or BWF (try to make a safe within scanning range of Empire Gate)
Any objections or other ideas?

Let's rock. Still need to fit the plate, but I'll do that on-site. I did some play-pvp last night, so I have a good idea of what I need to do and how ECM works. Edit: Old outdated fitting.

Well, 5,600 isk ;) Req, make an alt and join us. :) Bhodi, you might need to look at fitting a MWD. You will want to haul ass away from the fighting and ECM people, not be up close with your paper ass! Drop a multi for it.

Can-do. I wasn't sure about it, and none of the fittings online have suggested I need to do it. My cap is pretty miserable so I'm not sure how useful MWD is. Afterburner instead?

Afterburner is pretty pathetic really, I'd probably just slow boat it instead of using your mids for 2x your speed.
I do understand the cap concerns though. Have you looked into Eve Fitting Tool at all? Most fights don't last all that long, but if it is a bad problem you could consider a cap booster (my apologies if this is a horrible idea, I don't fly Caldari or EW boats). I would probably remove the multi anyways and run like 2 Gallente 1 Caldari and a Minmatar racial. Screw amarr :)

OK, then we need to make some calls. Here's the situation. EFT really breaks it down well for me.
With 2 SDAs in the low plus a MWD, my jamming strength for a multispec is 3.364 per, 5 active. That means, if I do the eyeballing right, that I can keep 2 ships locked down for sure, and 3 ships locked down most of the time. The downside on this is that multispecs have shit range and chew cap. 48km optimal + 15km falloff for 1m12s.
Racials give me almost double that (6.322 primary, 2.10 other), use half the cap (2m48s), and have double the range (79km+25km falloff). It sounds like I probably want racials, if for the range if nothing else. They seem to be, in terms of cap just as good as multispecs for a strength / cap ratio on the wrong sensor type. They're a great deal on the primary sensor type.
Unless you think we're going to be fighting hordes of small ships, or I need to be able to lock down more than 2-3 ships, I think fitting racials is the way to go - 2 gallente, 2 caldari, 1 minmatar. If wanted, I can ditch the MWD for a 6th or a LSB. At 200m/sec, I'm pretty much a sitting target and would rely staying aligned, warping to and from the battle to stay out of danger. I don't have enough PvP experience to tell if this works. Also, if I ditch the MWD, my cap TRIPLES, making me effective into the 6 minute range. Probably shorter though since I'll have to be toggling the LSB or warping in and out...
Capacitor power relays don't seem to give me enough of a boost to make it worthwhile, at least for for t1 completely disposable modules. an extra 15% of time isn't worth the hit in jamming strength. Neither is the plate, IMO. I'd rather put a LSB in mid slot rather than take out an SDA from low. As for cap boosters, Again, I'd have to remove one of the SDAs -- this brings my jamming strength down from 6.32/2.10 to 5.55/1.85. it's the MWD that cripples me and my cap.
Now, maybe I have the amount of time battles take all messed up and am front loading my jamming too much. If we really do need 5-6 minutes of a smaller amount of jamming, I can put in cap boosters.
Questions: use a cap-crippling MWD or do warp-in-out to stay out of range plus a LSB to handle random hits? use SDA to boost my strength, or put in cap rechargers to have less strength for longer? I am leaning towards 2 SDAs, 5 racials, 1 LSB. Maybe switch out that LSB for a medium, maybe swap for a med capacitor booster, or a battery, if fights might last a long time. I just don't have the experience yet to know :)
I assume rigs aren't worthwhile and too expensive?

Left click the checkmark by the MWD to turn it off. Figure out your sustainability with MWD off but fitted. In a boat like this with skills like yours you're only going to egage the MWD for a cycle or two to gtfo.

T2 stuff is also way cheaper than best-named in a lot of examples*, although do check you can fit it.
*I'm trying to keep war stuff out of this thread, but on a purely factual and informative level bob lost a lot of moon mining stuff in feyth and is losing more in delve now (10 moon mining poses so far today alone) so t2 prices will presumably continue to rise, not least since goons are way too lazy to put up the same number of replacements, so supply will fall.
Like I say that's just in case anyone is looking at maybe trading in T2 components. I'm not suggesting it is war-winningly awesome.

Oh, those figures were with it *off*. I have about 28 seconds with it on. The severely reduced ability is due to the inherent cap penalties.

I heard about this event in the f13 channel. I've been only doing missions for the past 7 trial account days and still learning the ropes. No PvP experience whatsoever and just recently learned to armor tank.
Would like to join though. Let myself be amazed. I'm flying a Tristan. With an engineer character I don't have much combat skills, but I'm happy to eats some hits for the glory of it all. I already have replacements for my implants.
Char name: Nelke Cronspect
PS: I'm using the "Linux client" which tends to crash irregularly after a warp or when something blows up or when I'm generally not careful.

Do bear in mind that you can get a pretty damn good character out of the box if you just create an alt. Use the goonfleet character creation guide, choose the minmatar pvp build and what do you know, you're golden! You can, if you're keen, train up propulsion jamming (do train propulsion jamming!) to fit a web and a scrambler. But basically it's a great guide to shooting on day one, and it's open to all. Also, if you look at the goonfleet educational services videos on youtube you'll find intros to everything you need: overviews, tackling and more. I linked to them in this or the other thread on the F13 corp.

Something I totally discovered today: Because your cap recharges at a fixed percentage rate, fitting cap batteries passively increases your charge rate as well. By more than a capacitor recharger in my case. Even enough to fit a MWD without any issue. New fitting options, able to run the EW indefinitely on both:
2 assault launchers 1 medium smartbomb 5 racial EW (2 gallente, 2 caldari, 1 minmatar) t1s 1 large cap battery 2 signal distortion amplifiers
OR
3 small smartbomb 4 racial EW (1 gallente, 2 caldari, 1 minmatar) t1s 1 large cap battery 1 10mn MWD 2 signal distortion amplifiers
It will be a rush to the MWD, it won't be finished until slightly after 4 EST tomorrow. I'll be able to just dock and fit it once we get to where we're going. Which do I fit?

Really, I'd fit a plate instead of two signal amps. Your chances of warping out increase greatly.
Also, the small smartbomb is unlikely to ever be in range of anything ever. Maybe drones, but just jam what is tackling you, warp out and warp in again. They stay jammed for the rest of the cycle after you warp out, anyway.

OK, I'll fit a plate. The issue is that it destroys my high slots and makes me into a brick, but especially on my first time out, I'll probably need that damage cushion.
The smartbombs really are only for drones which are the bane of blackbirds -- I can jam anything else. If there's a better weapon for drones, I'll fit it instead. I can't fit the medium smartbomb though, not enough cpu/pw. I'll be standing off 70-100km anyway, and won't be in range of anything else. The launchers are for frigate/inty discouragement, and my launcher range is only 30km anyway. I'm not the DPS of the group and hopefully will never be in range.

Please use this place to stage so if you need something from the corp hangar it is right there :)
