So what's the plan here?  I heard FF IV is getting redone on the DS now.  Is the intent to keep this going with 5, 6, etc.?  I don't even play games much anymore lately, but for some reason I'm really desperate for a remade FF6 with updated graphics and new content.

And let me just add that I'm aware of the GBA remake, but don't relish sinking a 100 hours into a GBA game when a DS/Wii/whatever game is coming in the next couple years.

I can see FF6 going DS, maybe even PSP but not PS3.  I just don't see it happening.

Neither do I, I'm just holding out because they haven't announced where FF6:R is going and I'm pretty sure they know it's the best game they've ever made.

FFVI remake for the DS, FFVII remake for the PS3 & 360, Chronotrigger remake for the DS, FFIX remake for the PS4 & 720,

FFVIII can burn in hell for all eternity.

They should do... like... a sequel to FFIV.  I don't mean FFV, I mean the characters from FFIV doing new crap.  Get someone to crank the story out, present it in the FFIV engine, and sell it for handhelds.  It can't be that hard to do, and people would buy it like a motherfucker.

I still have my original copy.  If they remake it, they need to make the Steamwood sections less bullshit.

Fucking awesome game, though.  At the time a better 3d implementation of Zelda than Ocarina IMO, and who knew collecting action figures in a game would be so rad?

Yea, I like it more than Ocarina also. The jumping felt especially good. The game actually felt like a much more natural shift to 3D from Link to the Past than Ocarina and Majora did.

Oh I know, it's just I was blown away at the time that I was doing that shit and enjoying it.  It was a weird feeling that resonates still.

Also, am I the only one who enjoyed FFVIII, especially moreso than 9?

I thought VIII was cool at the time, because I was younger and gunswords and the like were pretty nifty.  The characters and story though as told by the text were less then awesome.  It really was only cool because the FMV's were pushing things for that time period and there was lots of action if I remember right.  I'm basing this on the fact that I really didn't enjoy replaying it a couple of years back.  However, IX was so bad that on the PS1, buying it the day it came out, I never got to the last disc because I was so meh towards all the characters.  I mean they had a traditional FFT blackmage but that was the only redeeming aspect.  The main kid w/ tail, stupid knight and little girl all sucked.

...well I guess that explains it.

I also thought the story was fairly interesting, and the Guardian Force/junctioning system was interesting. But then, I'm a sucker for character customization mechanics.

IX was made of fail and lose.

Phil, If Mr. Burgerzzz agrees with me on this - since it's his favorite FF - then you don't have a choice.

Dude, I played FF8 last summer and it was one of the worst games I ever played.  I bet I would have liked it more if I played it when I was 15 or whatever. I made a post detailing my contempt for the game awhile back.  I'm convinced nostalgia and the innocence of youth are the only things keeping this game as being remembered fondly.  Incidentally, I also played FF9 last summer (I was going through a tough time, don't judge!) and found it to be very enjoyable.  I liked the old school feel a great deal; FF9 felt like the closest thing we'll ever see again to FF6.  The game was permeated with an aura of all the awesomest SNES RPG's.

Jesus, what if they remade FF6 for the PS3 with the White Engine, and did seriously hardcore graphics and let you play as General Leo?  I read on Wikipedia that they were having trouble fitting FF4 onto the DS carts what with the updated graphics and the voices.  If that's the case FF6 won't be coming to the DS in an updated form, or if it does, it will be crippled and lame.  That SNES cart was like 32 megs.

It'd be cool if they threw IV and VI (hell, maybe even V just to be nice) on the PS2.  Such classics with PS2 graphics....Yum!

Are you one of those guys that wants Disgaea 3 ported down to the PS2 so you don't have to buy a PS3?

Because those people are part of the problem.

No, I'm actually excited for Disgaea 3 going to the PS3.  It's giving me a reason to BUY a PS3.
