Huge Killer App Ship Approaching.

T-Minus 3 months until this thing hits. Confirmed by some folks that it's in mid February 2008.

Oh god I can't wait.

I've been waiting for this stupid game for, what, almost 2 years?  It and Forza2 seemed like justification for the 360 at the time.

That's cool. Make a joke about Culdcept.

Culdcept Saga is the latest entrant in the popular Magic-meets-Monopoly game franchise that had previous installments on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. Developed exclusively for the Xbox 360, this title is the first in the series to incorporate the advanced online matchmaking features of Xbox Live.

Glad to hear it's finally releasing soon (for a while I think it was expected to come out earlier this year).  Especially since there's not much else I'm interested in coming out around that time.

Are you nuts, this is probably my favorite turn based strategy game on the PS2 and it's certainly not because of the graphics or story line.  I would buy an Xbox360 for this alone.

I keep eyeing the copy of Culdcept on PS2 we have at my Gamestop, but then I keep remembering that I never have time to play it.

Probably going to hit live soon.

This game is definitely on my buy list, never fear Schild. It helps that it is coming out in a month that has little competition to my knowledge.

It has.  I just downloaded it a little while ago.  Shame that they don't give us a level to play over Live, but it's fun regardless.

No, but I think nearly all the cards from the original and expansion are in there, if not all of them.

When I was young I played this in real life. We called it "Monster Card Monopoly." It was a mix of Monopoly and some old Warhammer trading cards. When you landed on squares you fought. It was awesome.

Ok, tried the demo, here are my thoughts:

I hope there is more to the full game. The game board had what? 16 squares with 2 uniques on it? The fighting was kind of meh. Little swing animation and the card gets cut in half.

I don't know. I wasn't that blown away by it, but I'll still consider picking it up in case that demo was a shitty preview of the full game. I just may wait for reviews now.

The single player on the demo has one board (which is pretty much a tutorial level).  I think the multiplayer on the demo is supposed to have two, but I haven't taken a look at it.  There's a lot more variety to the boards in the full game.  Take a look at some of the screenshots.  There's also supposed to be about 500 different cards in the full game.

That does look a lot more promising. I guess they just did a piss poor job in the demo. At the "coming soon" screen they should have had a text blurb and some screenshots.

I was also highly confused by what alot of the stuff meant. "You increased your red in the center." Uh...ok. I know that's good but why? I guess I need to have played previous versions.

That just kinda sounds like a bad translation.  Can't really think of what that would mean.  I picked up the gameplay pretty quickly though after playing the demo about 3 or 4 times.

Also, on the subject of video games with a trading card aspect, I'd kill for a console port of Lord of Vermilion.  Hell, I'd buy a PS3 and an Eye Toy just for that if they did it Eye of Judgement style.

Squeenix used their best artists on the game. The list is amazing. It puts MTG to shame. Just completely. Which is sort of sad. I hope Wizards wants to bring it over here. Maybe work in part with Square USA.

Well, I got most of the gameplay. There were just little nuances that I'm sure would have made my strategy better if I understood them. I noticed as I leveled my lands and got more lands of the same color that it increased my share of the center color thingy, so I'm guessing that was important.

In the original Culdcept you got bonuses for having more of a certain color.  Can't quite remember how that worked at the moment.  Sort of like when you get hotels on everything in Monopoly.
