Good show, i have been enjoying it. I'm an old Quantum Leap fan, so this is kind of a modern take on it.

Never watched Quantam Leap, but I've been enjoying Journeyman. I haven't watched last night's episode, but last week's revelation about Livia's origin was not something I expected at all.

He looks vaguely like Anthony Michael Hall (he's on Dead Zone, isn't he?), but maybe I've not been paying enough attention to the previews.

Yeah this is a great show.  I'm fully expecting it to die a horrible death since good Sci Fi never lasts long.   I liked that they finally started showing him disappearing, but worked it in in such a way that it was meaningul, rather than just a "oh, look special effect moment."  It's also not being overused in that every time he jumps you see it.

It was.  The twists here are:
1) He's not a scientist, just a random guy who happens to start 'jumping' through time.
2) It's completely random when it happens, and he keeps jumping back to 'current' time, (apparently current time + however long he was in the past.. think Bill & Ted)  Hooray for home angst.
3) He follows one person each week, showing up at random points in their lives.  For example, when they're 10 years old, as a teen, as an early 20 something.  His 'job' appears to be fixing their lives/ keeping them alive at key points in their lives.

The first few episodes of the show were fucking AWFUL, and if there were anything else on mondays at 9, I would've watched it.  It's starting to get alot better now though, I'm looking forward to see where it's going.

It's no quantum leap though, in QL the protagonist had some urgency to get his shit done - help enough people and finally get back to his own body, and if he didn't help someone, tough shit, stuck in that body forever, hope you enjoy being a moderately attractive farmers daughter, bitch.

If this guy doesn't do his job..so fucking what?  That person's life is ruined, he jumps back home and everything is just fine, aside from some guilt.  Hardly a plot device to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The two shows I miss the most right now are Hustle and Mad Men, both on AMC.  We just switched from TWC to AT&T Uverse and I lost the DVR on the main box, really bums me out.

Hustle is absolutely amazing if you're a fan of the con, think of it as the The Sting, but sans Redford and an hour a week. Oh, and with brits

Welcome to post-modern Sci-Fi?  BSG, DS9, hell even the latest Dr. Who had a sense of 'darkness and cynicism' rather than the 'hope and promise' themes of yesteryear.  I gave up raging at the 'science makes your life shit!' trend a while ago.

I actually thought the "turning my life to shit" thing was a good touch. It felt very naturalistic, though I think he probably could have been smarter about some of the choices he made. And they have shown some upside, such as being able to watch the Nixon stuff, or getting a glimpse at his younger self and getting to drive his brother's car when it was cherry. Or that whole feeling of helping people.

Granted, it's not all riches and blowjobs, but with the kind of thing happening to him, I can't imagine there being a whole helluva lot of upside, period. Hey, I'm driving, hey, I'm in 1970 with no shoes, hey I'm back in the present and my car is in the bay.

You forgot to mention that without Redford it's about 1/3rd as entertaining and the cons aren't NEARLY as fulfilling. Also, the show seemed to have a case of the uglies.

It's also 8 of 12 episodes and tachyon-professor arc didn't moved an inch.
Not to mention - he has time travel abailities and all he goes is bloody San Francisco and if that wasn't enough of an insult, he only goes no farther than 30 years (not enough budget or what?).

Now, a couple things.

1. never watched the show, no time  but may on dvd, certainly curious.

2. Way to be nit-picky.  Never leaving san fran? Not travelling more than 30 years?  This show is clearly NOT dr who, nor should it be.  The show is very obviously setting certain guidelines and rules for time travel specific to its own universe, this is fine.  Just because he isn't fighting dinosaurs with samurai swords does not mean it wasnt in the budget or that the lack therof makes for bad tv.   Comments on acting fine but statements like the above are why so many writers are afraid to try new things.

Kinda sounds like your trying to write your own show instead of sitting back and enjoying the show they are presenting to you. Same with everyone else voicing displeasure about what they think is wrong with it. :)

Relax enjoy what they give you. Stop rewriting it to fit your desires.

Really like the show enjoy it for what it is, find all the actors appealing.

Really want the show to stick around for multiple seasons. Enjoy the region its cast in very much.

Yes, I'm prolly defending it to much and not being objective about it, but its really a Top3 show for me this season. Love the way its filmed very beautiful, knowning nothing about filming I like how its very sharp but also soft image,.....compared to the other show "life" very sharp crips film but not as warm tones Life comes across as very sharp images.

All the inter-character drama it has could be resolved by 30min of honest talk and I really loved the disappearance on board of an airplane arc. The guy is seen entering bloody plane, disappears mid flight and all the authorities do is ban him from flying? I'm actually inclined that would be reaction IRL, thus the question.
