Over the years I keep buying games, either on hype or word of mouth.  Many of them only get played for a couple hours.  Some are lucky to just get the wrapping taken off.

This is the season when all the OMG MUST HAVE games come out, which as usual will barely get touched, or take my attention off whatever else I was playing.

That won't get finished or touched either.

Right now I have the following games as barely played or untouched that I bought within the last year or two that I can recall.  Some were bought cheap, some not.  All have gotten a sub 2 hours gameplay.
Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
Silent Hill 3
Dynasty Tactics
Suikoden Tactics
Fatal Fury Battle Archives
Future Tactics
Paper Mario 1000 Year Door
X Men Legends 2
Zelda Twilight Princess
Metal Slug Anthology
Dragon Ball Z Wii "Holy shit this game has a lot of stuff in it and I was vaguely nostalgic at the time."
Timesplitters Future Perfect
Phantasy Star Online 3
Disciples 2 Gold
Divine Divinity
Dig Dug Digging Strike
Neverwinter Nights 2
TMNT (Came free with the movie.  Supposed to be bleh, but it was free!)
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
Railroad Tycoon 3
Roots: Gates of Chaos
The 2 N Gage Splinter Cell games
Lumines
Valkyrie Profile
Metal Gear Acid 2
Gripshift
Jeanne D Arc
Spectral Souls
Vagrant Story
Final Fantasy 9

And that's just ones I remember and am not counting most retrocollection games.  Nor am I counting any pre PS1 purchases.
I'm also not listing Virtual Console and XBLA titles.
If I was counting unfinished games I got more than 3-4 hours on the list could triple or quadruple.  (Probably closer to a factor of 10 though.)
I haven't finished Dragon Warrior 8, or Disgaea 2, or some older games like Baldur's Gate 2 or the first Fallout, or one of my favorite niche games, Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land.
I have a metric shitload of games to play already!  Some were bought on the cheap, but

I really need to stop buying games!

Hmm.. this is kinda bloggy, tweaked it to not be quite so...  Ohhhhh, I see.

Actually, it would be interesting to see!

And itll be good evidence why many of us need to lay off the games buying or something.  This thread was originally a I AINT BUYING ANY NEW FULL GAME FOR A WHILE thread, but it sounded goofy, so its more me visually telling myself to chill.  All the big hits will still be available months later, and usually at half the price.  (And my wierd ass niche turn based love tends to be for games at a sub 40 pricepoint anyhow.  Usually sub 35.)

What's the point of spending good money and not even enjoying what I spend?  Ive become the same with DVDs and gotten through a good 20 or so in the last month.  It feels better to complete some stuff and use it IMHO.
Its time for a change.

Suikoden Tactics is not a terrible tactics game....though is does suffer from the (IMO) fatal flaw of the entire franchise - that being you can only buy certain skills for certain characters. Personally, I like to develop characters as I please.

Nope, character specific skills are necessary, or else everyone gets the same uber shit by the end of the game. Jain Zar, I will make a list just for you. Maybe.

Dynasty Tactics isn't worth the time or the effort.  Seriously.  It almost made me hate Koei.

For fun, I'll take Jain Zar's list, since I think I have most of these games:
Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
Silent Hill 3
Dynasty Tactics - Piece of shit.
Suikoden Tactics - Piece of almost shit.
Fatal Fury Battle Archives
Future Tactics
Zelda Twilight Princess - Returned it.
Metal Slug Anthology
Timesplitters Future Perfect
Divine Divinity
Dig Dug Digging Strike
The 2 N Gage Splinter Cell games
Lumines
Valkyrie Profile

Metal Gear Acid 2 - Xbox, lol.
Gripshift
Jeanne D Arc
Spectral Souls - Piece of shit.
Vagrant Story
Final Fantasy 9

Everything in Red I have not finished.
Everything in Green I have finished.
Everything left white will never be finished.
Stuff I don't have was deleted.

I wish there was some sort of point-buy system, or at least gave me more skill choices. The way it worked, there was pretty much only 1 way to build a character; they just go better at what they did as time went on.

Metal Gear Acid 2 is the PSP CCG RPG thingie.  I remember thinking it was interesting, but I didn't play it more than an hour or so.  Not the X Box game.
I played through the tutorials of Dynasty and Suikoden and didn't think they were bad.  (Of course I enjoyed the first 10 missions of the first GBA Fire Emblem and it turned out to be a miserably hard pile of unfun.  The current Wii one with the in mission hard save is the best thing to happen to that game.)  I heard bad things about Spectral Souls, but I didnt find out till after it was purchased cheap.  No wonder it was at a reduced cost!
And I am utterly surprised you not only have an N Gage but finished those two Splinter Cell games.  I was worried they were gonna suck.  (Lets face it, Pathway to Glory 1 and 2, the Advance Wars with Pirates game, Warhammer 40K, and RIfts are the only reasons to own one.  Of course they are all good to FUCKING RAD, so there is that.)

Thought I was the only person with Dig Dug DS too.

Course this is just the list of barely to totally unplayed games I got within the last few years I remember.  Though I probably would have played Timesplitters Future Perfect if it worked on the 360.  Only bought it budget and my OXbox isnt hooked up right now.  I don't buy EA published titles at full price.  Got it out of a Toys R Us clearance box along with Future Tactics.

X Men Legends 2
Disciples 2 Gold
Divine Divinity
Those three are all high on my enjoyment list. XML2 is a fun beat-em-up (I collected X-Men comics in the 80s, so I'm biased). D2 is a cool strategy game, kinda of a darker HoMaM. I was playing that when HoMaM4 came out, because it wasn't a very good HoMaM. DD is a great isometric rpg that's the closest I get to Diablo. Lots of clicky combat and itemization, but also lots of questing and exploration.

I've got a few hanging out, but usually a reason. Like for Medieval 2, it doesn't do 1280x720. I might go back and try to play it stretched 1024x768, but I've got too many good things to play before that, and I don't really buy a lot of games. X3 is another one I've been meaning to sink my teeth into, I've already begun climbing the learning curve on it thanks to a couple online tutorials.

Much to my shame, I've actually a couple of games I bought and never opened.  (Tokubot Plus and Golden Sun 2.)

That said, I rarely ever finish games these days.  Not unless they keep me riveted from start to finish.  I blame MMORPGs.

I'm glad the consensus on Dynastic Tactics is that it is ass.  I felt almost bad for not having fun with it, since I liked the other Dynasty titles so much.  It is not fun to play.  At all.

oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer

I actually have played Suikodan Tactics all the way through.  It sucks.  I don't really like Tactics games though according to all Tactics people because I thought Pucel or whatever with that stupid 999,999 level dungeon was fucking terrible terrible crap waste of time fuck you shit.

Also Metal Slug Anthology shouldn't take more then 2 hrs to beat almost all of them or at least get sick of the gameplay.  I think we played through the first 3(?) or so, to the one that ends with you fighting aliens and using the nazi's as bait for the final boss.  We had two controls and passed them, a joint or two and many beers between four guys.  Was an effective way to beat it with infinite continues.  I can't imagine actually trying hard to stay alive during some parts...

AC!D is fucking awful, I had nothing to do in Napa one day & I was trying to play that, jesus, it was so boring and there was so much dialogue and when I actually could do things it made so little sense.  Also I couldn't seem to get the damn psp screen to actually be decently visable while outside...

FF9 is for my money the WORST FF they made not counting Crystal Chronicles and various handheld versions I've never tried.  I hated every single goddman character in that one.  It also super suffers because X is such a good FF title.  I never did get around to playing X-2 and my copy of XII is in Santa Rosa at a friends house after I got to 30 hrs /played, never did bother to ask for it back and now there is no ps2 at my house anymore.

God I always feel dirty reading/responding to this board, its proof positive I'm fucking out of my  mind bored at work.

FF9 may not have impressed you, but it was a welcome return to their roots after FF8 (a.k.a. the Final Fantasy where it's handy to have a book to read during the summoning sequences).

Here are the ones I would open:

Silent Hill 3
Fatal Fury Battle Archives
X Men Legends 2
Zelda Twilight Princess
Metal Slug Anthology
Valkyrie Profile
Jeanne D Arc

A few of the games I'm not familiar with. I put X Men on because it might be a fun braindead thing to fuck with.

Like I said, Suikoden Tactics was...OK, at best. I went through the whole thing. My ending teams were entirely broken balls of death.

Though, stuff like Jean D'Arc and FFT: The Lion Wars are definitely superior games.

I'm sure someone will jump in with the Disgaea games...sadly, I still have not even loaded them into my PS2. Not sure when I will be able to. undecided

It was probably August when I went through my shelves and removed the plastic wrap from the games I have not played.

Games I've purchased but not done more than install/download/take the plastic wrap off:

PS2: 12
PC: 54

Games I've played for less than two hours:

Wii: 3
PS2: 6
PC: 4

A few of these, sadly, date back to when I lived in California (before summer 2004).

Partially thanks to this thread I obviously went back and did a little playing.

The half finished Field Commander and Lord of the Rings Tactics got completed, and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth went from unplayed to finished.

Here is hoping I can keep it up.  Have taken some old friends for a spin and VP made me buy the sequel, but its a start innit?

I decided that before I upgrade my rig to play last years games, I'd finish all those games I've had forever and never completed.  It's 21 titles long (PC only). I managed 2 before christmas and am currently working my way slowly through Baldur's Gate 2 and expansion.  Oldest title on the list is probably Quake 2.  Then I've got games that I don't own and have always meant to, like Morrowind or Grim Fandango.

Should keep me going for a while.
