There are torrents and other great places to get it. Lots of direct download stuff, if I wasn't balls to the wall busy, I'd start copying and pasting links.
I can not find a dedicated linux server package though.

Found a torrent and got it installed. I play on a 30" screen @ 2560x1600 with a GTX8800. TF2 seems to play much smoother but UT3 looks quite nice. Hopefully tonight I'll give it more time (if I'm not too busy playing TF2).

http://www.fz.se/filer/?id=4436, I don't know what kind of speeds people on the other side of the atlantic will get from that site, however, if you're from europe it's super fast.

From the Epic forums: I am sorry, but linux dedicated server support is not part of the demo

Well it seems like an improved amalgamation of UT2004 and 2003 with some neat new stuff (hoverboard and such). None of the vehicles are new except the Darkwalker in the deathmatch map HeatRay. Oh and it looms like Gears of War (unsurprised).

I was very pleased. It's the UT I've been waiting for since the original. Never liked '03 and never got around to getting '04. It's got the feel that I remember and love. And that big War of the Worlds walker thing is the shit. Haven't driven it yet, but it's been loads of fun blowing up. :-D And if you're trying to d/l, try the torrent at: http://www.fz.se/nyhetsarkiv/?id=22084Got the whole thing in about 20 minutes.

Been playing it. It doesn't seem as "smooth" as previous UT games. I don't like the controls of the hoverboard and the jeep thing. Other than that it feels like UT2k4 with better graphics. All the weapons are just the same, and same with the vehicles. I was a little disappointed. Also every server I got on seemed to lag badly.

Every server you got on lagged because there's no dedicated server software out there yet. Unless people installed it on a windows box and started a dedicated server remotely - and then, I bet it runs horribly.
Linux server must to be released yesterday, plzkthx.

It doesn't feel as smooth at the previous UTs but I like it for that. Running really feels like you're running, and the vehicles handle much more realistically too - ie they have a (very squishy) suspension. Feels less floaty and more gritty - another likeness to GoW really. Also the weapons aren't all the same, they re-added the Enforcer with a burst-fire alt and the minigun's secondary has knockback/pinning, flak alt-fire acts a bit differently, scorpion's gun is different and it has a speed boost, etc. No super major changes but excellent tweaks in my opinion.

This is only one of the things that made this beta really bad so far. It wasn't only Linux servers that were an issue, because there were problems with 2003 servers too. Add to that a problem with 64bit machines crashing, the auto detect settings re-writing graphics options when closing, plus the server browser and UI looking/working like total ass, and it makes this beta not very player friendly. The game itself looks really good, and I second the things Chenghiz said about the gameplay tweaks, but having only a handful of servers and a crappy server browser makes this beta really suffer, as well as very frustrating for fans of the series. The single player "Instant Action" versus bots works, but that's not what UT fans are downloading this game for.

I personally loved the old UT2K3 online browser they had. I loved the Tabs instead of the dropdownmenu to pick the gametype, I loved its smoothness. This current one is obviously bugged but I fail to understand how they couldnt' have seen it being this badly bugged in house and yet they still released it in demo mode.
I'll say it again, give me the UT2K3 menu over this current one and over the UT2K4 online browser.
This demo give the feeling Epic is really relying on the Image cache the the UT series has to sell a lot of copies of this game. The single player campaign can't be the best thing since sliced bread since they aren't hyping that part up. I mean they never had a good single player.
The Warefare mode, its only a gameplay mode it can't save the entire game. The hoverboard is meh, you get hit you get knocked down not much fun gameplay in that. The Sniper rifle is way powerful and this time we have head shots added into the mix, so you have lowered the actual playtime into the mix. The dodging ability has been lowered. So we are getting more offence and less defensive ability. Which seem to tell me less uptime or tactical stratigic gameplay for the individual player.
I do not see this game lasting long on the masses playschedule before they move onto something else.
Again Epic dosen't care about competitive gaming, so they make the game release it then don't care, sure they will patch it but it won't be supported like the monster a UT game could be and with the masses who adore this franchise they become disenchanted with it fast. So I see the fans who really really want to love this game and really really want to play it forever but are just let down by Epic because of their attitudes and their actions with this new update of the game, its another yearly update its not a new game, it just took them 3 years. The Demo fails, so unless the full game is more than this demo we are stuck with a loss and many fans will be fooled by Epic because they are just abusing the UT3 name with this release.

I'm pretty sure you just made up most of that post.
What the hell? Did you even play 2003/2004? Or the UT3 demo?
