Anyone heard much about this? What I've read seems interesting, but I prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to downloading 1gb+ demos.

It's not a bad game. I downloaded the demo and it was worth my time.
I'm not sure I'll get the game since it seems to be more of a hyperactive "clickfest" rather than employing any real strategy.

Best team base RTS ever made. Very fast action and like Company of Heroes it punish people that are defensive. If you're a turtle this game might not be for you. If you like Company of Heroes you probably love this game.
BTW what is "clickfest" about this game? By default you need a strong strategy to win because it is a team base game.

I was playing the single player campaign in the demo and it semed to me all I was doing was reacting quickly, throwing whatever I had available at the newest threat, calling down the tactical aids, and queueing up my renforcements. I didn't get much time to think, I just reacted.
I haven't tried the multiplayer yet, I'll do that tonight. And I am a huge CoH fan, but not as good as my kids as they can whup up on me.

You won't be disappointed with the multiplayer of the game. This game will be like the counterstrike of RTS. It is well like by RTS veterans but like I said before it might not be a good game for people that like a slower pace. The only time there is a slow in the action is the first 10 seconds of the game or if both side do multi nukes simultaneously.

Two shitty tastes that taste worse together! Yeah, I'll be avoiding this one. Hasn't RTS played itself the fuck out yet?

Hm, a friend on another forum was going on about how it feels like a FPS - which was the first I've heard of it. I'm not really a RTS guy in general. Might give the demo a look at some stage.
jdun, you seem a little.. overenthusiastic about this being the BEST GAME EVAR in your first few posts on this board. Especially in light of it only having got a demo out so far.

You can get down to a FPS view, and that's cool, but you'll want to be playing from your God's eye view so you can see what the heck the enemy is up to.
I tried as much of the multiplayer mode the demo would let me. It has potential but it is not overly impressive so far. Let's see what the full game is like when it comes out.

Because I played a lot of RTS games in my times so I know my RTS. The RTS communities is very hyped about WiC. Go look at the mulit player demo and see how many games are online at a given time. It is a lot for a demo especially when you need two teams to play one game.

Whenever an opponent discards a card, Megrim deals 2 damage to that player.

Which RTS communities would those be?

I tried the demo a bit at work, where my rig can actually run this beast. My home rig runs home for mommy as soon as the WiC demo looks at it funny.
I enjoyed it a bit, but it does take the Starcraft branch of the RTS family's view that the best players will be the ones doing lines off their keyboards while guzzling Energy Drink du Jour. It's not a stately game like Empire Earth, at all. 20-minute matches and no real need to protect anything aside from objective points ensure that you're moving around all the time. (And if you really try to defend, someone will call down the wrath of Nuke on your head, making it moot anyway.)
I did find the Artillery support role to be a bit slower-paced than the other roles, so if you already have the demo, you might want to try that. I had some fun using my long-range artillery in conjunction with the recon flyover aid to strike the enemy's artillery.
A purchase on this one will depend heavily on whether or not a bunch of officemates also pick it up, because drunken LAN gaming is where it's at. It's definitely not the robot chocolate Jesus, despite what some moles would have you believe.
