La Gallina wants Blu-ray, and an old college roomate I used to play hours of NHL'93 with on the Genesis is coming over this weekend, so I am picking up a PS3 today (that part isn't up for debate, but feel free to mock me).

She likes shooters but doesn't know what's good.  I don't like shooters and never knew what's good.  Suggest a decent shooter that looks good on PS3.  Something that involves blowing the hell out of monsters is better than blowing the hell out of people, and blowing the hell out of undead is best of all (she was a big fan of House of the Dead).  Gameplay is king of course.

She's not a hardcore console gamer, so it doesn't need to be super hard (and doesn't like frustrating shit like games without lots of save points anyway).  She's also not going to want to play online.  Just looking for some cathartic zombie/monster/whatever explosions after a long day at the office.

This post makes me want to squeeze into my badass red jeans.

Resistance was fun. Darkness is pretty awesome.

Resistance is easier and has more guns. Once you beat it once, you can play through again with a completely different 8 guns and some of them (like the twin equilibrium style aiming pistols) are just fun as hell.

Drawing a blank, other than Resistance.  Rated W for World War II and sepia.  On the plus side, it has monsters for enemies.

Welcome to the club.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Don't forget to load up on the EA sports games, so you can wiggle your wrist to pass the ball.  OMG 110% bettar!

Heh, the 360 is only console that's strong with the shooters. Stranglehold is cross platform though, so there's that to look forward to.

True. But he's hardly got a time machine, does he?

Random aside: cool art book with Persona 3.  Not sure it's worth the fucking delay though.

Thanks for the help, mes amis.  The pickup got pushed back to today.  One other question.  My TV only has one HDMI connection, I presume it's OK to just get a cheap HDMI switch like these http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&style=  so I don't need to swap cables between cable TV/DRV and the PS3?

Hook your DVR up with component instead! The only thing that hdmi gets you is less cables and lag (sync) time changing channels and turning on.
