I read something about GHIII having boss battles.  If they add these to the regular career mode, I think I'm gonna punch somebody at Red Octane.

You could have a GH MMO! 40-person concerts to unlock one song for one person, at random. It would add months of content as everyone unlocks random songs trying to get the one they want, and can't trade away the ones they don't.

I need to get into game management.

I actually would like the boss battles if they are staged like legitimate guitar battles. Honestly I think that would rule if there was some sort of guitar battle side story that they could make up, like a guitar world magazine gods of guitar battle and you get to play against these guitarist in a guitar battle song that they wrote. Here is a list of 100 guitarist they could pick from

1 Jimi Hendrix
2 Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band
3 B.B. King
4 Eric Clapton
5 Robert Johnson
6 Chuck Berry
7 Stevie Ray Vaughan
8 Ry Cooder
9 Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin
10 Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones
11Kirk Hammett of Metallica
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
13 Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead
14 Jeff Beck
15 Carlos Santana
16 Johnny Ramone of the Ramones
17 Jack White of the White Stripes
18 John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers
19 Richard Thompson
20 James Burton
21 George Harrison
22 Mike Bloomfield
23 Warren Haynes
24 The Edge of U2
25 Freddy King
26 Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave
27 Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits
28 Stephen Stills
29 Ron Asheton of the Stooges
30 Buddy Guy
31 Dick Dale
32 John Cipollina of Quicksilver Messenger Service
33 & 34 Lee Ranaldo, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth
35 John Fahey
36 Steve Cropper of Booker T. and the MG's
37 Bo Diddley
38 Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac
39 Brian May of Queen
40 John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival
41 Clarence White of the Byrds
42 Robert Fripp of King Crimson
43 Eddie Hazel of Funkadelic
44 Scotty Moore
45 Frank Zappa
46 Les Paul
47 T-Bone Walker
48 Joe Perry of Aerosmith
49 John McLaughlin
50 Pete Townshend
51 Paul Kossoff of Free
52 Lou Reed
53 Mickey Baker
54 Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane
55 Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple
56 Tom Verlaine of Television
57 Roy Buchanan
58 Dickey Betts
59 & 60 Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien of Radiohead
61 Ike Turner
62 Zoot Horn Rollo of the Magic Band
63 Danny Gatton
64 Mick Ronson
65 Hubert Sumlin
66 Vernon Reid of Living Colour
67 Link Wray
68 Jerry Miller of Moby Grape
69 Steve Howe of Yes
70 Eddie Van Halen
71 Lightnin' Hopkins
72 Joni Mitchell
73 Trey Anastasio of Phish
74 Johnny Winter
75 Adam Jones of Tool
76 Ali Farka Toure
77 Henry Vestine of Canned Heat
78 Robbie Robertson of the Band
79 Cliff Gallup of the Blue Caps (1997)
80 Robert Quine of the Voidoids
81 Derek Trucks
82 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd
83 Neil Young
84 Eddie Cochran
85 Randy Rhoads
86 Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath
87 Joan Jett
88 Dave Davies of the Kinks
89 D. Boon of the Minutemen
90 Glen Buxton of Alice Cooper
91 Robby Krieger of the Doors
92 & 93 Fred "Sonic" Smith, Wayne Kramer of the MC5
94 Bert Jansch
95 Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine
96 Angus Young of AC/DC
97 Robert Randolph
98 Leigh Stephens of Blue Cheer
99 Greg Ginn of Black Flag
100 Kim Thayil of Soundgarden

and of course....

ralph macchio!

They can add to that list or just use like the 10 they like and then make a guitar battle section of the game sans their retarded rule set. If you win you get to win that song for multiplayer battle fun. There we go, I did the work for 'em.

BUT

Let's not bullshit each other here... We all know that Chong Li is the greatest guitar battler.

That top 100 list is hilarious. Kurt Cobain dozens ahead of Les Paul? Really? People need to stop making top 100 lists. Johnny Muthafucka Winter in the 70s? Sheesh.

Being focused on blues these days, I have to say BB King is one of the most pedestrian and basic blues players out there. Robert Johnson is WAY better and he was just simplifying the older player's music. No Clarence Gatemouth Brown? No Mississippi Hurt? NO JOHN LEE HOOKER?

I guess we should be glad they put a couple black guys in there at all, while including almost every white guy who stole their moves? Jimi Hendrix? Yeah, Buddy Guy on acid. Clapton? Buddy Guy. SRV? Buddy Guy. They'll even tell you they're just ripping off Buddy. Fuckin' shame. And Buddy is at 30, 2 behind Stephen fuckin' Stills? 14 after RAMONE? WTF? Jeff Beck is a hack (at 14) who wishes he had half the chops or talent of Peter Green (38)...and of course, Santana who got famous on a Green song is right behind Beck at 15.

Bah. Utter garbage.

Well, here's how I look at it. I don't have two 360 Guitar Hero controllers, so here's my second controller for GH2 360 anyways.

I hope the guitar is better.

Dude. Shredding.

I'd pay for Shredding.

But no, it's was the third song I needed to tip me over.

Knights of Cydonia + The Metal + Through the Fire and Flames = Purchase.

Paint it Black and Even Flow will be too easy to base a purchase on.

I would still refer to all the other awesome songs in the game, saying those are the only three worth it would be shooting yourself in the foot.

You're also nowhere even close to those guys' level, I'm not sure why you would want to play a song significantly harder than songs you already can't beat.

I bought it. I wanted to play Turning Japanese, which sucked. Limozeen, which sucked. And we havne't unlocked ballroom blitz yet - which will suck.

Mostly because this is the crappiest game ever, if you consider the rest of the series. It's so bad compared that it's like the ET of Rhythm games.

That playlist isn't so bad for one reason:

East Bay Ray

That's a freakin' Guitar Hero right there.

[EDIT] Too Drunk to Fuck would have been more fun for GH though.

I played this piece of crap this weekend. What a turd. I am really happy I didn't buy this game. The songs are all really easy and poorly executed. It just oozes poor production values. to its credit there are a few songs with some decent cord progressions that I found interesting but not enough to warrant a purchase or even continued casual play.  angry

The last couple tiers do some interesting things, and if anything the difficulty on them is good practice for GH3.

I agree the I Wanna Rock sounded really off. Like sped up and lousy vocals. Just put on the original track idiots. And for some reason the guy who sang No One Like You sounds exactly like the lead singer of Loudness. I'm also somewhat ashamed I can make that statement.

I liked Holy Diver but it just highlighted that no one can sing like Ronnie James.

I've 5 starred every song through the first 14 on Hard on the first try and I'm not that good.

With a pre-order promo I managed to pick it up for a net of $25 bucks (plus a free wristband that my kid likes), so I'm not all that disappointed.

While playing the game I thought to myself, "This is really really not fun, but I bet Phildo would enjoy it!", mainly because of all the crazy chord switches.

I know how you love the chord switches.
