Mmmmm.. Sweet sweet luvin... It's pretty impressive for them to release on the PS2, Xbox, and PC all at the same time. I let my Planetside sub lapse until they load in the giant robots so I'll be playing Battlefront in the meantime.

Edit: wtf? Only 16 players? 1998 called and they want their 16 player version back. Joint Operations which is basically the same type of game supports 150 players/server.

16 sucks!

Game needs at least 32 really.  I call consolitis.  Consoles limited to smaller numbers or lobbies so the maps all have to shrink to the lowest common denomonator.

I just lost interest.  I was hoping for some tribes like fun, but you need 32-64 for that.  8VS8 COULD be fun, but it NEVER will be on a pickup server.  Pickup servers will have at LEAST half the players picking their asses or not knowing what to do, so it really ends up 4vs4 or less.  And I am not the type to clan up in a fps type game.

Unless the online component has changed from the press release Lucas Arts sent out a couple months ago, the 16 player limit appears to apply to the console version only.

Star Wars Battlefront will be optimised for PS2 online, Xbox Live and PC online. Console gamers will be able to battle against 16 players over the Internet or 32 players connected via LAN. PC gamers will be able to battle against 32 players over the Internet or 64 via a LAN.

You're right. If you dig hard enough past the Xbox/PS2 reviews the PC review does say 32 internet and 64 Lan (and the flash faq says "plan on 32").

Thank goodness.

I think the last thread here regarding Battlefront mentioned the seemingly low quality textures. From the screen shots I can find it still looks about the same and the reason for it is probably the consolization as well.

SW:Battlefront or Tribes:Vengeance...wonderful, another hard choice in what looks to be a long season of hard choices between many games.

I just hope the pc version isn't gimped for the console versions, like just about every game developed for multiple platforms. Or maybe it's just Ion Storm making me dislike consoles for that reason.

I'm thinking this won't be too hard a choice. Lucasarts doesn't have a great reputation for multiplayer goodness, IMO.

A lot of that has to do with not having a dedicated server option for many of their multiplayer shooters. Hopefully SW:Battlefront will include dedicated servers for both Windows and Linux.

SW:Battlefront is basicly a Battfield 1942 Mod.  So if should be able to handle multiplayer.  That being said, I'll be downloading the ahem demo before making a purchase decision.

SW:Battlefront is not using the DICE Battlefield engine -- it's something Pandemic wrote themselves.

I hope it's not yet another mutilation of the Quake3 engine.

EVE (inactive): Deakin Frost -- APB (fukken dead): Kayleigh (on Patriot).
