95.

I can walk to anything, living in the heart of Boston is pretty choice.

You CAN walk to anything, but since it's so expensive to live there can you afford to do anything after walking there?  I've looked at several academic positions in Boston and I couldn't afford to live in much more than a 1BR apartment on my salary.

I'm doing OK cool  But yes, everything costs more in Boston and I don't even mean rent.  It's not as bad as Manhattan but it's up there.  I can tell you that a Saturday afternoon drinking at a sidewalk place on Boyleston or Newbury with a Sox game in the evening is one of the great pleasures of the civilized world.

I have a 2 br. apt.  If you need a place to stay for a day or two to check out the area and interviews let me know.  At last count I think I came up with 27 different colleges and universities in the immediate area so I would be surprised if you couldn't find something.

A 52 here.  And it didn't take into account that the only sidewalks on the major roads go by underpasses where all the illegal aliens hang out looking for work and groping women who walk by.  Although with traffic the way it is around here on weekday afternoons you might as well be walking.  Their version of a grocery store is the local Stater Brothers which I might say has quite the poor selection of quality foods.  It's almost like a Wal-Mart without the bonus of being cheap.

How It Doesn't Work: Known Issues with Walk Score

We'll be the first to admit that Walk Score is just an approximation of walkability. There are a number of factors that contribute to walkability that are not part of our algorithm:

    * Street width: Narrow streets are better for walking because they slow traffic.
    * Block length: Short blocks make it easier to navigate the grid.
    * Freeways: Freeways can divide neighborhoods and hurt walkability.
    * Public transit: Good public transit is important for walkable neighborhoods.
    * Safety: How much crime is in the neighborhood? How many traffic accidents are there? Are crosswalks well marked and streets well lit?
    * Aesthetics: Are the sidewalks shaded by trees? Are there appealing parks and public spaces?
    * Pedestrian-friendly design: Are buildings close to the sidewalk with parking in back? If buildings have large parking lots in front, they are less inviting to pedestrians.

As MarlonBain said, "You should use the Web 3.0 app called going outside and investigating the world for yourself" before deciding whether a neighborhood is walkable!
Incorrect Google Map Results

All of the locations shown on Walk Score come from the Google Maps API. You may notice that some of these results are not accurate. E.G. something shows up in the parks category that is not really a park, or a restaurant shows up that has gone out of business.

We're using the most accurate data available to us and are working with Google to improve the accuracy of results. If you see an incorrect result, please let us know so we can investigate.
Other Issues

We are currently using "as the crow flies" distances rather than walking directions. This means if you live across the lake from a destination, we are assuming you will swim. We are investigating using Google Driving Directions to calculate our distances. Hopefully, Google will add Walking Directions in the future!

Technically you can walk to anything in most places if you don't value your life. And I'm not referring to lurking Scotsmen. At this end of PA and in most of NJ they don't like putting sidewalks anywhere, so walking is like Frogger.

I tried to do this, but my location is so remote that it has been running for the entire time I have been playing in this poker tournament which is about five hours. Hooray.

I second that.

24/100.

Interesting about the distances they've listed for some of places around me.  I didn't realize I was that close, not that I would want to walk anyways.  My town isn't called Lake in the Hills for nothing.

7.  I don't think they factored rattlesnakes into the scoring.  Northwest Tucson is pretty sparse.

How do you get anywhere?  I am assuming that you must leave your house from time to time.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I drive. Everywhere.

And people wonder why I never went anywhere as a kid, before I could drive myself places.
