I've taken to playing it while watching basketball games. It's just a nice background game to other stuff.

Hmm, yeah.  While I lost a hunk of time to this, don't think it will really stick me like cookie clicker and hero clicker did.  The graphics and other mechanics made those more engaging.

Though I'm sure some psycology student could write a good paper on why these particular type of stupid 'games' are so damn addicting.

I was finally able to close the browser tab it was open in. I feel like I have won or something. I don't know.

After a certain point, any upgrades are pretty useless and it's best to just let it run until you gather enough items to buy another (greater) queen in order to eventually get a hive.  Not sure what else there is to do.

Larvae seems to be the bottleneck for most of the time.  Buying those upgrades is priority.

Why don't you try our other games?

The fact that the resource at each level is a producer for the previous level gives it a bit more of an addictive power creep quality than Cookie/Hero Clicker have.

Yep.  Also the Larva= 2 or 3x spawns upgrades seem to be only sinks after the first tier or second tier.  Watching your purchase vs spawns per second on the Drone, Queen, Hive side it seemed I wasted more Larva and bugs doing anything beyond the 1st. Your production/ second overtakes the purchasing power pretty quickly.  Larva seem better used on the territory side, climbing that ladder.

Apparently it "remembers" your progress and gives you full credit for time elapsed even if the tab isn't open.

Nope, done.  Hive Empress was bad enough, but now with Swarmling II it's just recycling content.

Meat
Meat is delicious. All of your swarm's creatures eat meat.

You own 474.709 decillion meat.

You earn 537.410 nonillion meat per second.

I mean, since we're measuring...

Quote
Hive queens oversee the production of hives in the largest swarms.

You own 6.06720 million hive queens.

Each produces 24 hives per second. (×4 bonus)

In total, they produce 145.612 million hives per second.

...

Meat is delicious. All of your swarm's creatures eat meat.

You own 6.88597 quattuordecillion meat.

You earn 55.2434 tredecillion meat per second.

No hive empresses yet, but I'm close.

I'm well aware.  But given the sheer amount of time he's spent putting the dick in Minethings and some seriously head hurting other distractions, I literally have no clue how he has time for this nor how he can manage to put in the effort time and time again.

The amount of effort it takes to click a couple of things a few times a day or so literally does not register on my effort-o-meter.

That's the entire appeal of this type of game for me, in fact; it's the same illusion of achievement over time you get from a MMO, but with a tiny percentage of the actual time investment and expended effort.   awesome, for real  What I can't fathom is how any of you have the patience for stuff like WoW.
