Can you set it so new users can't post until you approve them? Check it once a day or so, approve the ones that aren't obviously gimmicks, and let the others stew (or send them a mail and try to get some info from them). If they are legit, they will likely contact you wondering why they haven't been given access yet.

If you want, i can block all their ISPs range for this domain, but that means youll block legitimate traffic also...dont know if you get much traffic from russia?

I don't know if phpBB has the option but you might be able to enable something that doesn't allow external links or if it does they get redirected so they are not direct links. Another option it might have is to only allow links from a whitelist but then you would need to approve new links for the whitelist. Again, I don't know if phpBB does it but a lot of the wiki software is implimenting that kind of thing for the exact same reason. |
