Being bored, I clicked the link to the abyss that is the wow forums, and the only thing I found interesting that the 3rd or 4th response was someone asking if "she knows Kralnor".

The Kralnor thread was classic.

Post's deleted.

She's  posted before, last time was when the whorecraft movies were first releasing, to generate hype.  I still laugh thinking about the chubby dude in the horrible orc mask.

Mia Rose and her sister also played "strip Halo 3" which was recorded on video. Or so I've heard.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

Aren't the naughty Catholic school girl, the women in prison, and the strict librarian fantasies enough?  Somehow the idea of gluing pointy ears to some porn skank doesn't make the act of jerking off better, it makes it more sad.  Which is hard to do.

Its ironic she plays a warlock, given the conspicuous lack of dev sexual penetration in that area.  A warrior or pally would be better.

All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu.  This is the truth!  This is my belief! At least for now...

Its not that deep.  Like Pterodactyl Porn, this sorta thing is mostly for shits and giggles.

Their are some seriously fucked up people in this world.  All things considered, an elf fetish is about as harmless as it gets.

I click on that link, and what do a find? A small blurb about automating pet actions with macros for PvP using a new Focus mechanic.

How much fucking easier does Blizzard need to make PvP in this game? Shit.

While the Warlock is free to concentrate on another target. It's essentially Fire and Forget Self-Renewing CC.

Surely you can see the problem there.

IIRC, it's subject to diminishing returns.

Also, IMO poor vs good UI should never be a competitive factor in PvP of any kind.  Are keybindings easy mode?

As long as it doesn't automate for you, like auto-bubble and shit.

Damn, I REALLY hated Paladins with auto-bubble scripts.

I'm fairly sure there was no "auto-bubble" script, since casting a spell required you to actually hit a key. They could've just bound the script to the movement keys, but that functionality was taken out more than a year ago... and in 2.0 you can't even have conditional macros anymore (ie. if at %20 hp use shield, otherwise do nothing), so in fact, things were made LESS easymode with BC. :P

Focus/targetting mods have existed before BC, too.

Well to start, if you are using IE, stop it.

I'm using Avant, which uses IE in a shell.

But the pertinent thing is how can I check for keyloggers, and if there's one on it, how can I kill it?

Note, I have various ad-blockers and banner-blockers, and I didn't click on anything on that site, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

nb - I'm also running Spyware Terminator, McAffe Security Centre (expired sub now, though), and SnoopFree Privacy Shield, none of which noted any scripts or anything.

Well the glib answer is that thanks to rootkit technology there's no way to know for sure.

The less glib answer is if Avant didn't crash when visiting the site and you are behind a firewall or using NAT then the only likely avenue for infection is if it somehow managed to install an ActiveX control while you weren't paying attention. IE has a menu option to display what ActiveX controls are installed but I don't know if Avant has a similar UI.

The tedious answer is to run something like HijackThis and then painstakingly Google every single thing it finds to see if it's potentially a piece of malware.

No crash, hardware firewall in the router, windows firewall, (what's NAT?). Not sure about ActiveX in Avant. There's a toggle to allow/disallow scripts and ActiveX but neither were turned off at the time. I do have banners turned off, but not sure if that would be enough if there was something dodgy in a banner on that site (I didn't actually look at the site's tab at all before seeing Righ's post and clicking it off).

Was already cleaning via AdAware/McAffe/Spyware Terminator, so I'll let that finish and then go through the MajorGeeks stuff.

NAT is Network Address Translation. It's a way to map one IP address to another and its usually used to map Internet addressable IPs to intranet-only IPs. E.g. your router will have an Internet addressable IP but your PCs may have 192.168.X.X IPs (the typical IP range for home LANs) which are not addressable from the "outside world" and only work on your LAN.

If your PCs are using NAT then the way most routers are setup there's no way an outside machine can initiate a connection to one of your PCs unless you explicitly setup a mapping within the router configuration (sometimes called a "pinhole"). From your LAN-side the router sets up a connection mapping table when a PC initiate a connection out to the Internet so when the reply comes back from the outside IP the router knows which machine to send the packets to.

If your PCs have directly accessible IPs than external machines can try to take advantage of various network services security flaws to install malware on your computer that way. E.g. in your typical campus environment, connecting an unpatched Windows machine to the campus network almost inevitably means that machine is infected with numerous trojans and the like within the first few minutes. Visiting that Web site gives them a record of the IP that was used to access it and assuming its a malicious site they can try to do the same thing as above without needing to crash your browser (which is suspicious, always be paranoid if your brower crashes, especially if its IE) or trying to sneak an ActiveX control into the browser (assuming its an IE browser).

This (Rootkit Revealer) is somewhat technical, but if you can get it to run and make sense of the output then you may have a better level of confidence that you are not infected under a rootkit:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Security/RootkitRevealer.mspx

Also it may not detect the most recent rootkits as security is a cat and mouse game, but it should detect all the older technology.

Ah yes, I have that.

Ah, I see. I'll disconnect my modem then and pick up a new IP address in a few hours.

Thanks. Again.

Because you are using NAT you don't really need to try and change your router's IP address, assuming the admin access is password protected and the password isn't the default. Some routers can even be set to disallow admin access from external IPs (i.e. they can only be access from intranet IPs) for the really paranoid.

Lantyssa is correct. I avoid the official WoW shithole forums. Fuck, I spend too much time on f13 without wasting it there as well where the mouth-breather ratio is overwhelming.

Regardless, thanks to Trippy's links, I've cleaned out a ton of useless old shit from my computer, so I still come out way ahead.

Why wouldn't you visit the WoW forums?

Anyway, I made a PVP video with my priest and want to show you guys, but don't want to make a new thread for it. I'll use this one since it's pretty derailed already. Check it out and please tell me what you think. I know I need better gear but I think I do pretty well for myself without it.

Why wouldn't you visit the WoW forums?

The few times I've checked it out, I've found a forum with thousands upon thousands of posts by massively multplayer morons. The few times I've read my class forums I've ended up horribly depressed about my class. (for an hour or so). There's too much stuff on the few forums I visit which contain a large proportion of people I actually have respect for (like this one) without spending way too much time trawling through the world's worst signal/noise ratio.

Other than that, no reason.
