Looks nice, a tad incomplete though (yes it is beta I know).  I usually use mehq.net for the occasional quest or deed unsticker.  I wonder how far they'll go with it?

Didn't know about mehq so thanks! I've usually used http://lotro.mmodb.com/, though lotro.allakhazam.com is actually pretty complete too.

I gotta imagine Turbine will go pretty far with this service. Why let all those potential ad eyeballs go to someone else's profit center? Considering how easy it is for Turbine to put this info together, without asking for add-ons be installed, without asking for user input, I couldn't figure out why it took so long for other companies to do it. I liked that in the early days industrious folks did this all with sweat and tears for the fun of it all. But it's been obvious for awhile how this could be turned into a business. So internalizing it just makes the most sense.

As much as the eyeballs going somewhere else is the fact that these "fan services" really tie in to the playability of a game. The fact that I can alt-tab to a browser and toss WOW QUESTNAME and get everything I need to know is a big part of what makes WoW playable. It was a real issue in EQ2 for me because finding info was harder and since they did so many changes often out of date.

No problem Darniaq!

I would love for someone to do a interactive map for LOTRO like they are working on for WAR.

I agree Numtini. I normally love to learn everything I can about a quest from the game itself, and explore the rest. But if I've got 30 minutes or so to play, and want to make some progress, I want to hit a site and get the answer.

All sorts of locations of NPCs and quest things, and uses the original maps so you can use the lettering and features as landmarks.

Those are cool thanks, but I was thinking more in line how in the WAR map they gel' it with the Warhammer universe's global map to give you a feeling where all the game locations all fit in.  The WAR map did the extra work of adding in some of the locations, cities and towns from the book(s) lore as well.  But both the sites you gave there are great for finding things in the game. :)

Oh I get ya now. There's a project that overlays both ingame and book-defined maps using the Google Maps system. But I think Turbine took a number of liberties to make the map work within their world engine, so there's anumber of big departures.
