Here's the slightly shortened version of the email I just received regarding my Dragon subscription >:[
As you have recently learned, Wizards of the Coast has decided not to renew Paizo's license to publish Dragon and Dungeon, and plans to provide similar content in an online capacity in the future. Both Dragon and Dungeon will cease publication following the September issues (Dragon #359 and Dungeon #150, respectively). These issues will ship to newsstands and subscribers as planned in August 2007.
Because many customers' subscriptions extend beyond the September issues, Paizo has decided to give subscribers several options to redeem their excess subscription credit. A brief summary of these options follows:
Pathfinder Pathfinder is a new monthly 96-page perfect-bound, OGL-compatible, full-color softcover Adventure Path book printed on high-quality paper for use with the world's most popular roleplaying game.
Dragon and Dungeon Back Issues Subscribers can choose to receive select back issues of Dragon or Dungeon on a one-for-one basis based on remaining subscription credit. This is a great way to fill holes in your collection. Once Paizo runs out of these magazines, they'll be gone for good. (If you select this option, you'll be invited back in September 2007 to select your issues.)
Paizo.com Store Credit Paizo.com is the Internet's leading online hobby store, with more than 22,000 gaming products from hundreds of publishers. Subscribers can swap their excess subscription credit for store credit on our website at a generous 120% exchange rate. (Store credit will be added to your account in September, 2007.)
Refund If none of the above options appeal to you, Paizo will issue you a refund check for your remaining subscription credit. (Refund checks will be issued starting in October, 2007, and may take several weeks to arrive.)

..I want to see gamma rays. I want to hear x-rays. I want to...smell dark matter...and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me...

Apparently not. Heh, that was the _second_ thought that ran through my head.

Well, I liked getting Dragon here in Korea because gaming access is rather...limited.
And I had just signed up for a new subscription last month, too.
~sigh~
It was just nice to have something to read not in front of the computer. So much for that.

Sorry, I teach English. My Korean skills are practically nonexistant.
If you have something non-confidential to translate, I could ask one of the bilingual tutors or even one of my better students.

Well I think this is sad news Indeed. Although I don't read it or subscribe, Dragon has been a fixture of pen-n-paper roleplaying culture for as long as I can remember. A little piece of history just died. /pour forty

I loved my Dragon magazines... sad to see it end. I actually was hoping to write a couple articles in 'em sometime in the future.

Why am I homeless? Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question. They called it The Prayer, its answer was law Mommy come back 'cause the water's all gone

I'd take the store credit if I was you. That out of the way, I'm not surprised Dragon is dying. I had to take a survey a few months ago when I went to the Wizard's site and it was asking about premium content on the site I'd like to see. I'm guessing this Dragon stuff is part of it.

I'm not suprised either, I haven't personally bought one in years. Still, it does feel like one of those end of an era type things. Mind you, I think all magazines are heading that way. I probably only buy one or two magazines a year on average right now.

You are wrong about the death of print media.
I'll echo that it sucks to see Dragon die, but I haven't bought one since the 80s, and nostalgia doesn't pay the bills.
