I tried the trial a few months back and faced problems logging into the servers. It seemed like everytime I run the program, the server list would show all of them being down. I thought there were maintenance, so I leave it at that, a day or two I tried again, same deal. Well hearing negative reviews about it, I decided not to try anymore.

Today I re-installed the game again and got another 10 day trial. Ran the thing again...and I got the same issue.

Is there something in my PC blocking the client? Anyone?

Tech support on the DDO forums is likely to be a better place for a solution.

There are a few ports you will need to open. Also the windows firewall might be stopping it.
