Twice. It may yet come back from the dead!

I'm somewhat surprised it didn't stay afloat. Myst has a huge fanbase and vibrant online community, but few of them are willing to pay a monthly fee. The same could be said for The Sims. A Tale in the Desert hovers between 1,000 and 2,000 users, which Teppy says is enough to keep them in business.

It makes me wonder if combat is necessary to sell subscriptions, but there are all those Penguin Motel thingies out there making good money. Marketting maybe?
