As the guy on Neogaf theorized, the problem fixed its self around 12:01am March 2nd, GMT. Which happened to be 4:00pm my time.

Keep in mind Netflix often has bandwidth and connection issues completely unrelated to the PS3.  I've had large swaths of time where it was completely unusable on the pc, much less the ps3.

What it was doing for me was not even loading the disc -- I'd hit play on the disc, get a black screen for about a minute, and then the PS3 would reboot.  Didn't look like a bandwidth issue.  tongue  I'll double-check the clock on the PS3, make sure it's correct, and try again.

When I had my Netflix issue, I wasn't getting any of that.  I don't remember the exact message, but it was essentially more of a "failed to connect to the network" type of a thing.

Yeah, ditto.  Sounds more like the disk itself is hosed.

You call it an accident. I call it justice.

2012 is a leap year, so we're quite fine (The problem was the physical chip on the PS3 was saying it was Feb 29, 2010, while the OS didn't technically have that date available). The problem actually might occur in 2014, which isn't a leap year, assuming the programming for the leap year component is rather...stupid. I assume between then and now, however, Sony will have a fix available :)

That fix is currently code named "PS4".  I hear it will have full waggle control and feature 400 horizontal lines of resolution.
