No Critical desktop fixes this month though SANS rates the Explorer vulnerability as Critical even though MS rates it as Important.

WARNING: Be careful installing updates if you have ZoneAlarm running:

Didn't click the links, so I apologise for the stupid question:

Can my AMD PC download Window's XP Security Pack 3 now? I've tried before using Windows Update and it just hangs. Doesn't even start downloading.

One of the updates apparently screws up ZoneAlarm so be careful if you are using ZA:

If you are having trouble downloading it through Windows Update you can go to the MS Download Center, search on it, and download an alternate install instead (e.g. ISO image to burn on CD or a network install version).

The DNS patch evidently messes up ZA.  There are reports moving zone alarm settings to medium will allow a connection once again.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

ZA's forums are saying your safer without the update than you are with medium settings. They suggest waiting to install the update till ZA has a chance to fix.

To be fair, that is exactly what I'd expect the ZA forums to say.

Alternatively: Just don't run zone alarm. ^_^

Trippy, ya saved me some time yesterday at work when a few folks with ZA on their home laptops came a-wailing into my orifice. Cheers mate.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
