All my friends are apathetic about this game.  I will probably pick it up but they all agree that COD4 kinda made anything else look sour.

Edit: The game feels so much like Rainbow Six Vegas 1 that it hurts me on the inside.

I'll be getting it today or tomorrow.

Vegas >> CoD4. With bells on. CoD has a better story, but 6 just plays better. Way better. And has co-op.

I can chime in, it was piss poor PC port.  There were many issues with crash to desktops, graphics issues and just wouldn't work on a friends system(locked at the menu selection screen). The worst problem was the slowness of patching major issues. It was months for fixes (1.02  ACK! ).

We replaced it at our LAN party quickly with COD4.

It didn't support SLI. It didn't support wide-screen, It ran like a dog. Multi-player wasn't fun. The AI for your 2 buddies sucked.

And some people say all FPS games should only be played on a PC....

Sorry couldnt resist.

Anyway. I wrote up a nice review, and the site ate it, or I forgot to post it. Or some thing.

The Good:
Upgraded Graphics.
Able to earn XP in singleplayer as well as multiplayer.
Unlocked clothes items carry over from V1.
Able to start a campaign for coop mode, not just select the singleplayer maps into a kind of ghetto coop campaign.
Sprint!

The Bad:
Graphics update is very slight.
Only 2 players total in coop campaign instead of up to 4.
Not much of an update over V1 in terms of gameplay.

Overall its a slight upgrade from V1, but so far is very fun, and have the spirit of the old one. Feels a little bit more like an expansion than a new game. If you liked V1 then you will like V2.

Terrorist Hunt anyone?

Forgot to note. I have it on the 360 for any of you that want to do Terrorist Hunt.

And that is still correct. :P

However, if you develop it as a dumbed down console game and don't bother to do anything to it before getting it to run in Windows - it's going to suck, regardless.

So, coop gets the story this time instead of just the maps? Also, can you do coop locally or is it only xbox live? If it's local I'll grab it for my fiancee and I as we've been working on the first one's coop campaign. (Some of the maps are a royal PITA, we just got past Dante's and I was ready to pull my hair out!)

Yes you can do coop story mode in split screen (probably system link also). It just adds a 4th person to the team though. Player 1 controls the two AI teamates that are always with you. Shame you can't attach one to each player, that would be nice.

EDIT: For level's like Dante's on the first one, you can cheat and turn the brightness up on the in game options and make it so you can actually see a bit.

Visibility wasn't the problem. It being a loooong map and my girlfriend dying usually within seconds of me was the frustration. I finally got a sniper rifle and made her play "bait the enemy" and that worked alot better.

Bought it for the 360.  Love it.  Remains to be seen if the story is worth following or if I just want to kill bad buys.

Anyone up for co-op or terrorist hunt, just shoot me a message over XBLA (Wade1125).

Is the first one worth getting on 360 still? I'm a non-console-FPS guy, I should point out. But I keep hearing about how great the co-op multiplayer is on 360, and it's in the super-cheap-bargain-bin sale at the moment.

Do you level up a character and all that on the first one?

I think so.  Although it is frustratingly hard at times.

Not in single player mode.  I never really got into the online, however.

The level up stuff in the first one is for your "online profile" and playing coop it will take FOREVER to level it up, that was my one real gripe with the first one. A really hard, 20 minute coop match could net you around 110 points. Winning a single deathmatch online could get you over 2000 points.

The second one (V2) your character levels up in singleplayer, coop, and in Vs. Its a much more rewarding level up system.

Have a few days in it now. It's good. In a few ways, I still prefer the first one, but it's good.

First the complaints. In coop mode I actually prefer the map rotation to V2's storyline mode. The AI NPCs are a royal pain the ass. It would b easier if one each was attached to each PC, but they aren't and it's annoying. Two, everyone looks like they have fetal alcohol syndrome. Did Ubisoft Montreal hire Bethesda artists? I mean, WTF? Three (and this applies to the oringinal), some of the weapons statistics are questionable. Also, the SAW was meant to have an ACOG. The frigging thing has a rail for it. Why isn't it in the game? 6x scope, but no ACOG? Another WTF. And why the hell does an assault rifle in .223 with a 10" barrel have superior ballistics stats to one with a 20" barrel? Weirdness. Shotguns are improved, though the so-called XM26 (or whatever) isn't anything like it's portrayed in the game.

Other than that, it rocks. Single player story is superior. Terrorist hunt is much better online. Coop is still fun (with the above niggling caveats). Definately worth picking up. The leveling up system is so much better it makes me forget about ACOGs on SAWs (almost). Lot of fun.

If anyone sees me around as Sloan441, I'm definately up for some coop goodness. Fuck a bunch of deathmatch. It's the team coordination that makes the game fun.

 Heartbreak

Finished it last night.

All I can say is, there needs to be a section in F13 titled BiiW60FD.  What would that be, you ask?

But Is It Worth 60 Fucking Dollars?

The answer:  Hell no.

Gameplay = Awesome.
Story = Suckage.  Awful.  Crap.  Shit.  Anal leakage.

If you combine R6:V2 gamplay with the story of CoD4, I would have absolutely no complaints.  But the bar set forth by CoD4 in terms of storyline and character depth for me is probably too high to overcome for a while.

The game can't even run consistently at 30fps.  COD4 blows it out of the water in performance too.

sounds like a mixed bag. I still love SWAT4 was it by Sierra. The co-op mode with friends tagging suspects were absolute fun online. The player v player usually turn into a funny taser matches with pepper spray as well.  awesome, for real

hahah i don't remember how old was SWAT 4, but now that I remembered it, I dug up my old copy and setup a Co-op LAN game with my room mates. Not half bad, wish there's a sequel from Sierra instead of Timeshit.

I picked up the super-discounted R6V1 the other day. I'll crack it open soon and see if any of you bastards are online.

Just scored a cheap copy of #1 myself and it's pretty fun; well worth it.  If V2 is pretty well more of the same I doubt I'll be handing over $50-$60 but at a bargain bin price I'll give it a go.

If someone wants some co-op they can look me up.  Tag is in my sig.
