Icarus Studios Partners With GNi For Upcoming MMO Hosting

Quote
Icarus Studios has announced that it has entered into a long term partnership agreement with GNi Games and Digital Media, which will combine GNI's "pay-as-you-grow" infrastructure services with Icarus' resources for the design, creation, and deployment of online initiatives.

OK, I'll bite.  wth is an online initiative?

Yes, I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?

Why are you bothering us with this?

Because it's interesting for some of us.

Icarus provides MMO middleware. They've just signed up someone to provide the servers and infrastructure that can scale to meet player demand. Assuming* that those capabilities are decent, it could drop the barriers for some MMOs to be developed. Depending on how much hand-holding Icarus does, they could next start publishing MMOs.

Regardless, this adds at least another six months to Fallen Earth's launch time.

* I know - assuming makes an ass out of you and Ming.

Incidently, GNi also provides the server technology for Hellgate: London.   Cthulu

The server tech itself for Hellgate is fine.

The biggest issue is that nagging memory leak in the client and the fact that the company they hired to do their billing is a bunch of drooling, retarded subhumans.
