I thought I would start a thread for this game. We are really lucky this game even came out here, and even more lucky that it had all the glitches removed. If you are into fighting games, or just good games, pick it up. $30 everywhere.

Okay, ABA is kind of a weird character, you have to just understand the two modes she has which are normal, (key with big round eyes) and Moroha (key with big goat demon head thing.) ABA starts out every round in normal mode with three blood packets that are displayed above your tension bar. She only gets 3 per round and you can't get anymore. ABA uses these to get from Normal mode to Moroha mode. ABA wants to be in Moroha mode because it benefits her greatly, here are the breakdowns.

Normal Mode
-ABA can't dash
-ABA is sloooow
-damage potential is not great

Moroha Mode
-ABA is fast as hell
-gains dash
-damage is very high

Now while in Moroha mode you gain all this cool stuff, but you have to keep an eye on your health bar, because all this awesome costs ABA quite a bit. As long as you are in Moroha you are losing life. In addition to that there is a timer bar that appears under your life bar when you are in Moroha mode which counts down, if it reaches  zero and you are still in Moroha mode, the key throws up and ABA is momentarily stunned long enough for the opponent to REALLY FUCK YOU UP. Also, while in Moroha mode, getting knocked down will cost you some of that timing bar. (about 1/3) so you have to really rush down and get as much damage as you can, then change back to Normal mode, before the timer goes away. Luckily some moves will get you a little bit of timer back AND when you change back to normal mode you gain a lot of the life you lost while in Moroha mode.

Now keep in mind some moves only work in normal mode, and others in Moroha, so you have to know both modes well and have a solid game in each mode, get some combos together and know your normals and stuff.

That is it. Get into Moroha mode as soon as you can, beat that ass, get back to normal before the timer gets down to avoid big combos or an instant kill.  tongue

I was playing Accent Core a bit this morning though before jumping in TF2 and Moroha mode is still questionable in terms of usefulness. Like even when pulling out combos, it doesn't seem like she's worth using over any other character, including Gimped Faust.

Naw man, all her damage comes from Moroha mode. She is freaking beastly in that mode, she is fast as hell and her combos are short, easy and powerful. She has to have all the drawbacks to that mod cause she is so mean in it. I think the balance between normal and <oroha makes her an interesting character.

Played this some of the last few weeks. Haven't really been that into beat em ups, but one of my mates who is a beat em up fanatic has turned me. The game is really sweet once you learn to really play a character. Fast paced and tight with whacky characters. My favorite so far is Chipp and Sol-badguy, Sol mostly because he's easy to pick up and get some sweet combos going.

Yah, this game really is great. I am glad you are playing it, chip is a fun character. Not to be nit-picky but it is a fighting game, or a fighter... hahaha, beat-em-ups are like Streets of rage, or Double Dragon...Battle Toads... Less going on...Anyway, you can look at youtube, there is a lot of good combo vids for sol that would help your game a lot. Man I am telling you, Guilty Gear is great. Hope it encourages you to play more fighting games.

i used to play it in arcades a lot just messing with weird characters like May. It was fun beating people with her unblockable instakill and tossing out seafood at their faces. Then the experts would come and mop the floor with Sol Badguy or Chipp  tongue Nowadays I'm out of touch and don't own a console, so I'm not going to arcade to get pwned.

Hehe, ok.

I'll probably play a lot of fighters now that I have someone who really knows the mechanics and to compete with. I used to play Street Fighter 2 back in the days vs my childhood friends, but they were all pretty sucky so it never really got to high level play, at which point it really start to gets intresting.

Another game which we're playing a lot which really owns is Melty Blood. We're playing some Street Fighter 3: Alpha Strike or whatever it's called as well, but I like Melty and Guilty better due to the faster pacing.

There's a game called Melty Blood?

Also on PS2 and PC. Act Cadenza, the sort of "tuned" version was released a few months ago. There's also the ReACT expansion - which, I believe, is built into the PS2 version.

Yeah, I love SFIII: Third strike, but Schild doesn't want to get good at it so I play with my other friends. I really like old school SF a lot, I like Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo.

I really could not get into Melty Bread.. It is like a crappy Guilty Gear... It is just not fun for me, and I am sort of anti-doujin fighters right now...I just don't like the nhole nurse/schoolgirl/demon/effeminate boy character types and the mindless rush down that those games have. KOF and Guilty Gear are very fast paced games that don't turn into repetitive "string through combos and block strings till I land something then go to random combo into super..." I am sure Melty Blood is deeper than that, but holy crap does it have some crappy character designs...At least Arcana Heart has a few cool looking characters...To bad the rest are nurses/school girls/maids/effeminate boys....etc...
