Next week I have arranged to have a week off work. This is mostly so I can spend a week playing video games until I can't stand to play anymore.

In between maybe FIANNALY finishing Balder's Gate (II and the sequel), Fallout 1 and 2, Planscape, a campgain of Falcon 4:Allied Force with the DPRK's invasion of the South, a higher than normal difficulty campgain of GalCiv and the entire Morrowind game+both expansions...

What game should I get?

  • Civ IV?
  • Cod II?
  • NeverWinter Nights+expansions?
  • Shattered Union?
  • Some other PC game I haven't mentioned?

Yeah, if you haven't even finished BG2 yet, you'll only regret buying NWN.. the story isn't anywhere near BG2, and was even less compelling than Icewind Dale if that's possible.

Civ 4 gets my vote.

I think you should buy some other PC game you haven't mentioned.

Civ4.

One warning though. If you do buy Civ4, you won't be playing any of those other games you listed.

The final installment of the Myst series is out! This time with no embarrassing local theater talent! And a free-to-roam world!

NWN with the expansions is an excellent game.

Civ 4 is probably the best game ever made.  Then again, I think that the 5 best games ever made are all in that series.

It's all about taste, seems like you have a lot of catching up to do if you haven't finnished any of the games you mentioned first. If you haven't played CoD 1 then you REALLY should play CoD 2. If you have a super computer I would pick up F.E.A.R as well. If you have the patience, then Civ 4 is truely amazing, it's a solid improvement while still staying very true to the old formula. If you're into RPGs, which it seems like you are, then Knights of the old republic 1 & 2 might be intresting as well.

Save your cash - finish the very good BG2, then bask in the post-apocolyptic joy of Fallout 1 and 2, before finally wallowing in the storytelling beauty that is Planescape.  That should easily fill up your week.

There's the catch. I hate NWN, because I only bought the box, and even the worldbuilder (for the first six months, when I was trying to write up some modules) sucked (and I had the guide to it). I don't, you know, know MAX and whatnot.

So I'm REAL FUCKING UNLIKELY to buy more NWN stuff to make it ok. I just write it off as a loss and use the money to buy an actual fun game.

I agree with what pants said, but if you like TBS, get Civ4. It's a great upgrade to the series.

That'd be a fine argument if it wasn't for the fact that you can get the NWN bundle over here for less than half the price of a game as new.

The controls still sucked ass for casters tho.

Any thoughts on Star Wars Battlefront 2? I skipped the first, and haven't followed the second, but I'm intrigued by the integrated space combat bit.

SW:BII isn't out for a few weeks on PC, to my knowledge. The PS2 and X-Box versions are out today, I think. Here, anyway. I'll certainly be waiting for some reviews and thoughts on it from somewhere like F13, since the reviewing websites spent so much time fellating the first one, which was basically garbage wrapped in Star Wars shiny.

Same deal on BF:Modern Combat, actually, though I don't need that as I have the Real Desert Combat 2 Battlefield 2..

All versions of BF2 came out yesterday.   As to the game itself, I didn't enjoy the first one much and it's so vastly inferior to Battlefield 2 I'm not even going to bother picking-up the sequel.   Battlefield 2 with Star Wars skins/ vehicles would entice me, Battlefront, not so much.
