Now I have a little popup that comes on randomly (it seems) asking me if I want to update something. By the time I catch it, it's gone. I'm pretty sure it's from this WildTangent file that is still on my computer:
This part of the scan checks for several suspicious entries that autoload when Windows starts. <snip> --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
SpyBot should get rid if it for you, without all that tedious hacking. Have not tested it, though, since Fate is too much fun. I have not had any update popup or other shit, though, so maybe I only have the "kinder, gentler" WT binaries. Or maybe they are just less noticeable.
Why am I homeless? Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question. They called it The Prayer, its answer was law Mommy come back 'cause the water's all gone
I use Spybot in conjuction with a simple registry cleaner....Like, RegCleaner. It helps sifting through all the little things (like invalid startup files) that Spybot doesn't always clean up.
It's part of their DRM mechanism. It shouldnt appear as spyware as WT have informed the various anti-spyware companies. You can disable the update via control panel.
I removed it with hijack this and Fate still worked though. The process that installed appeared in my firewall/monitor as "silent cda install", i dont like that type of thing.
