Hi all,

for your eyes, there seems to be a bug with the hunter class on the test realms which extends cooldowns on special shots because ranged weapon speed is accidentally added to the cooldown timer. As is confimred by CM Caydiem this Bug will go live with patch 1.5 and will probably be fixed at a later time (either hotfix or patch 1.6)

In the http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-general&T=3389513&P=1 on the official boards Caydiem hast this to say regarding the subject:

" I'm sorry that this bug is not being fixed in 1.5, but there are times when we cannot fit fixes into a patch; if we delayed it each time this occurred, the patch would never be released."

Nice one. Of course the thread turns into a blizzard flamefest thereafter. Why is it so hard for MMOG-Companies to actually fix bugs instead of adding new bugs into the system?

Informing people that an upcomming patch has an awful bug in, and then saying its going in, and wont be fixed until a few months down the line in the next patch (to paraphrase: "STFU and give us your credit card details BITCH") its one of the worst ive seen yet from any mmog company. If it had slipped in unnoticed fair enough, but months of warnings and it being a well known issue is damn shoddy.

Yes, as a programmer it always amazes me that these MMO patches often break pieces of code or change game data that should never have been touched in the first place. I chalk it up to time/resource pressure which prevents them from properly doing unit/regression tests and code reviews on the changed code/data.

Good.  Fuck hunters.

 :-D

A little ambivalent about this one - on the one hand, I admire the honesty.  On the other, I think they're not going to be honest in this manner again any time soon.

I generally chalk it up to poor programming practices.

The programming concept for today is modularity.

edit:  Funny, if you try and put the url in quotes it ditches the open quote and leaves the close in place and writes it to the url.

Ironic that there's a bug in your link.  (fixed in my quote)

There are so many "known" bugs for just the mage class.  Now i'm starting to find the druid bugs (like frost shock not being removed when I hit travel form...can you tell I really hate shamans?).
All of these have been reported for months on the forums in well written postings explaining how to replicate the bug even sometimes.
A blue name has not  even acknowledged the mage frost bug. Probably have no ETA on when it will be fixed.  But we don't even get that blue name to tell us, hey...your class is fucked.  You aren't seeing things..

Hope they get that Hunter bug fixed quickly.  I mean hunters suck as it is.  Now they get thier only offence nerfed.  Sweet!

On a side note.
Took my mage to Gadz last night to run my guild throuh Zul.  So anyways I havent played my mage much lately so havent been to Gadz in awhile.  What a fucking mess.  The guards were attacking me after I was attacked and counterattacked.
WTF?
So...being a dick I send a tell to a GM asking for an ETA on when the guards would be fixed and the city once again useable.  ATM it is pointless trying to do anything there.  Surprisingly I got a response.  Same generic bullshit about how they know the guards are bugged and it will be fixed as soon as they can get around to it.
So I pm him back (gotta love that, if a GM sends you a tell, you can PM them over and over and over), and I ask him WHEN it's going to be fixed.  Not if they know about it.  Of course silence.

Those guards are seriously fucked.   Booty's guards aren't nearly as broken.

Not really, irony would be if I wrote the code for converting the BBCode url tags to HTML anchor tags and then couldn't fix the magically appearing closing quote error without rewriting the entire BBCode parser. That would be irony because it would be an example where good modularity would have made the task of fixing the bug much simpler.

Come now. I said before beta even started that their ability to patch and code would be the the death of them. Blizzard is just helping my case. I LOVE IT.

Due to all of the feedback we have received, and thanks to Caydiem, we are going be working to resolve the hunter cooldown bug.

Due to the feedback? You would have left it in had no one responded?

If players were really upset about dev behavior, they would quit.  People might hate the things that devs do or don't do, but in the end they're too addicted to the game to cancel.  Presented with an out, they choose to stay in.

So how bad are we supposed to feel for the complainers?

May you lose your job and not be able to get another one.  Just you.  How's that for good wishing?  Why the fuck are you targetting everyone when it's just the Blizzard devs you want to aim teh hate at?  Use precision insults, dammit.  With the success of WoW, they'll feel the effects of a depression much later than your average Joe Worker, if at all.

Because it was Saturday and I'd just spent 3 hours of OT on Friday and was about to go in to the office for another 4 1/2 hours fixing the half-assed mistakes of people who think that because they're salaried (like  myself, so I'm not getting anything out of it) they don't have to work more than 40 hours a week to do a job right.  Just getting it done, however shoddily, in that 40 hours  is A-ok, Joe. It's Summer and I've got things to do!.  Seeing another assfucker (who makes loads more than I do, I'm sure.) express the same sentiment towards OT and doing things right instead of 'just doing it' put me into a blind rage.

That is a pretty drastic step. I'm not sure even Rasix hates elves that much.
