I've still got that Ultima Collection disk of 1-8 from years ago. I just the other day finally learned how to easily pwn U5 and get as much loot as I want right at the start with no effort. Once you have a magic axe and 30+ invisibility rings, combat is just a formality. I might get seriously into 6 if I can overcome the shitty interface. U6 is the one game I can forgive just about any flaw in. In fact, I'm currently working through it right now, with a screenshot folder in case I decide to Radicalthon it. Were you intending to do the same? Ignore the mouse most of the time. The world screen is tiny, nothing you can do about it. Anything you loot off of a random hostile NPC not on this list is probably not vendorable, and therefore probably not worth picking up. Always store shit you intend to keep in (closed, if possible) containers. Don't buy weapons or armour unless it's either magic, or a halberd. You can dual-wield, I recommend a pair of swords.

If I ever did anything with U6, it would be Nythrax falling down a well in Faerun and somehow landing in Britannia, where everyone keeps calling him Avatar for reasons he doesn't understand. He'd promptly murder Dupre/Shamino/Iolo and instead recruit those two lesbian pirates from Buc's Den and that one gypsy guy, then go about breaking and shitting all over the game. I'd probably end it with him killing Lord British, casting Armageddon, and falling into another portal having destroyed Britannia.
So by all means, if you feel like writing up a legit playthrough then go right ahead.
I actually beat U6, but only on SNES. They had to cut some things to make it work on a relatively underpowered console, but on the whole it was a pretty faithful and worthy port. Not like the disasters the ports of 5 & 7 were.
As far as U6 combat goes, I'm wondering if a guy built for nothing but strength, dual-wielding morning stars, might not be optimal. I think swords and halberds use dex to hit and str for damage, while morning stars being bludgeons use str for both hit and damage. Morning stars are, like swords, rated 15 damage while a halberd is rated 30, so it balances out.

My personal wish is for the old Dynamix games to make a legit reappearance. GOG has the two Red Baron games but I'd love to have Stellar 7 and Nova 9, the Aces series and a couple of the Front Page Sports games, especially Baseball 94 and 96.

Dynamix, hell yeah. Would definitely buy some Earthsiege/Starsiege/Tribes action. Hell, all of the old mech games are hard to find it seems: Mechwarrior, Heavy Gear, all missing from every digital service I have. There's a lot of old adventure games that are hard to get nowadays, too. They've got most of Sierra's old library (Space Quest ), but lack what is probably my favorite series of all time: Quest for Glory, as well as stuff like Leisure Suit Larry. Or some of Lucasarts old stuff, like Full Throttle or Day of the Tentacle. When they started releasing stuff on Steam I was thinking I'd grab it there, but they just released the one set of games and stopped. More on topic, though, GoG is running an Interplay sale in case anyone's interested. Fallout (1,2 and Tactics), Freespace (1 and 2) and Giants: Citizen Kabuto are all like $3.00/ea.

Morning stars are, like swords, rated 15 damage while a halberd is rated 30, so it balances out. 1. They're still alive. 2. The one seems to be bi-curious. 3. I've been tanking my karma hardcore. 4. It's in my spellbook. As for combat, I normally spamhack the Avatar's stats to 30 after chargen because a) it's possible with character transfer to start with maxxed stats anyways and b) because I'm not going to grind motherfucking mongbats just to get the stats to fucking hit something. This seems to indicate that stats only determine hit chance, and that damage is a random number between 1 and the weapon's damage value. Although the one Ultima wiki claims that some items use both STR and DEX to roll... something. Who fucking knows. Dual mace would also work if you want to go cheap, but halberds are clearly superior to dual wield anything against targets with armour.

Missionforce: Cyberstorm would be mighty nice to play again. I have the CD case but not the CD.
