A brave Russian mod team has challenged themselves to port the whole of GSC’s survival horror, STALKER, into Crysis’ more advanced engine. The project’s called Cryzone – Sector 23, and is far along enough for the team to have released a video of the mod in action. You’ll find the video embedded below.
The mod is the work of a team called World of Stalker. It’s still a work in progress, but famous elements from the STALKER series are already in there, including the bleak landscapes, anomalies, and groups of terse Russian men sitting around campfires. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/02/07/modders-recreating-stalker-in-cryengine-2/I've uttered a desire to see ArmA2 recreated in a cryengine, but I'll live with stalker being recreated. Squee.

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

No lie.

Interesting, sure. Unfortunately, chances are it'll just end up like 99% of the rest of the total conversion ports - half way finished and dead in the water. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of them for every major engine for the past 10 years. I don't see this one as any different, at least until they're at the 'polish' stage.

I've worked on a number of those, and what bhodi is saying is so true. Neat video, but I won't pay the project any attention untill they are releasing it as done.

I'm looking forward to Red Orchestra. Apparently it'll be a full Russian-soldier campaign for Medal of Honor. Sounds great! I also heard that some guys called Gizka were going to fix up all the bugs in KOTOR2. Looking forward to that as well.
